anyone ever do a chat room here?

I think a few people here (myself included) would benefit from a chat room rather than the multiple posts / waiting for a response to the form.
There sees to be enough of us here to operate a successfull chat room too.

Anyone else like the idea, this ever been tried before I was here?

It's not a bad idea. It does have its pluses and minuses:

The techs may spend too much time in there and not be able to handle tickets...but they may be able to answer questions so that tickets won't need to be issued in the first place.

Most people might be behind a firewall during the day and may not benefit from the interactive chat (especially IRC)... however a forum can work nicely behind a firewall and they to can participate in a non-interactive way.

It's nice to search the forum. Vortech already has live support part of the day using PHP Live accessed from the support page.

Yes, www.vortechsupport.com for php Live, someone should always be there from support, if someone has forgotten to login just send in a ticket and the tech that is on duty will login.

guess about IRC channel it quit good ( frankly i mirc user about 6 years already ) the benefit is chitchat , get know other reseller or client , get fast respond , and abit more , i don't mean forum is bad or php live support is not so good but irc channel is more adding feature maybe vortech can review it but just look like worker of vortech is so busy can't got time for support in mirc guess so

I have to agree. Instant messenger suits that need and I don't like them either.

I think the responses here are very quick. I do like the lights and the whos online so in some cases I know people are actually on.

what about a running blog or shoutbox type app in a sidebar to the forum... set the forum up with a two column layout and run the blog/shoutbox down the side....

just a thought
