anyone actuallymake money reselling domains?
I just put it my reseller site through dotster up for convenence and complete branding/product offering, but have never sold one domain name outside my web design clients. Dotster is free to resell and they charge app 12 per domain. I love godaddy for my own regs and clients regs. 24 x 7 phone support if needed. They helped me txfr one out of net sol last week. I do not like net sol ![]()

I've used quite a few registrars and, given a choice, will register with Gandi (http://gandi.net/). I find their interface to be a model of simplicity and functionality. I've yet to need their support department to find my way around an unnavigable site or contend with broken registrations, and that's worth my 12 Euros.
Their intended market is individual domain owners so they don't offer bulk discounts or anything "business" like. I've been sending my customers there for the last 2-3 years anyway. And they send out bilingual notices. ![]() |

I don't know, I personally didn't like gandi, as I had a client with some domains with them. For me, their interface and navigation are very rudimentary, and not the easiest to navigate - plus, being a french as a first language site, I think the english translation is a bit convoluded. Besides, I'd personally rather have my domains registered in the country that I reside - no specific reason why, I just would.
Anyhow, all that said, at least the changes that were made to the domains there went into effect as needed, so they get points for that ![]() |

I use Go Daddy's reseller program (Wild West Domains) and get domains for $6.79 each. I can sell them for as low as $7.85 each. And the do offer Private Registrations for a low fee.
Not to mention the other products you can resell and make some good money on. I can resell PayQuake merchant accounts and get more of the pie than being a PayQuaker Partner. I can also resell Pop-Up Blocker software and a host of other products. All this for $99 per year and no deposit required, unless you would want to use their API. But I have yet to have a client who wanted to buy their domain themselves. I just do it for them in their name. I guess it depends on what you're doing.

I only host a few site for local folks here in rural New Mexico. So I always do the domain registration and resell the name along with the hosting. I have yet to have a person with their own domain.
I started this thread because I got so upset with the company I was using. Before I found Vortech, I was using another group who registered my domain name. They did not inform me that my registration date had passed, nor did they tell me they had locked the domain name. I just found out last night that a new group has taken over this company and they didn't realize that the domain names were not set to auto-renew. At least this new group looked into it for me. Anyway the first company gave me a re-seller subaccount with eNom, but didn't explain things very well. As it stands now I have nearly $80 in "eNom points" (read: money I can't get a refund for) and 10 names listed with them. So I either stay with them for a nother 6 months or loose my points. I started moving things over to GoDaddy though cause it looks like it will suit my purposes for now anyway. I guess if I started advertising I would go with a re-seller account of some sort. Any eNom people out there that want to buy my $79.99 of points? I don't even know if that is possible Thanks for all the suggestions DD

Personally I'm not a big fan of the wildwest/godaddy model where your paying $X per year, if you sell no domains, you loose money
I like the enom and directi approach which yes, requires a deposit, but you get to spend that deposit on domains too. |

Well, I guess if I sold 0 domains in a 1 year span, I probably wouldn't have a reseller account to begin with. ![]()
