mail, mail3, and mail4 will be taken down briefly within the next hour to add new hard drives to the systems. No data will be moved yet.

Am I missing something ?

The upgrades for the rest of the servers is scheduled for next week. Only mail1 will require the same level of downtime as mail2.

Prep work. We expect to be able to go live with the new drives a bit faster by sticking them in the boxes now. Downtime turned out to be just one reboot's worth for each.

Yaeh... Didn't really think we should have to announce a simple 30 second reboot

Well actually I was starting to get concerned about the several instances lately where someones posted "xxx is going down" for some changes minutes before it's done, whilst the improvement here has been awsome about actually posting downtimes, I'd still prefer to see advance warning (24 hours is fine) of any change (this doesn't include reboots), just becuase if it turns to custard, at least I have the benefit of having informed my customers prior to the change taking place.

Ever considered a standard weekly or even daily window for any changes to be made to the boxes ??

If you are having an issue I would recommend submitting a trouble ticket.
