Dropping Packets

I am currently getting random of bouts of dropped packets, up to 75% loss when trying to reach my sites. The Vortech status page is also seemingly unavailable at the moment.

Is this related to the replacement router? It seems to be, but I would like to hear of any status on the router switchover. It does not seem to be working out very well from my end. At times, I get extremely good response from my sites, no packet loss or anything, 58ms ping times to boot. The issues seem to be sporadic, but when it is bad it is real bad.

Any news on the network that could explain this? It is not the connection on my end, that is solid and every other site I go to is perfect. Anyone else having issues today?

Umm, if you can't reach us or the status page then you may have other issues. The status page is not on our network its in VA.

We are having a little packet loss. It only happens every 297 sec for about 5 sec. we know where the issue is and just trying to pin down why it is happening every 297 sec.

Will update everyone once we find the issue and fix the issue as well. But this is only on the network in FL. VA and TX are both 100% from what I have seen. So if your dropping packets to VA where status is there is something wrong some where else not with us.

Sure it's not 300 seconds ? check your crontab on the box for something set every 5 minutes to run like some ip accounting or other process that needs to be done periodically.

Positive. The failure has a period of 297 seconds and duration of 17 seconds, variability pretty much negligible. I can't imagine anything in userland here having a clock drift of 1% so we're targeting kernel issues. Kernel will be rebuilt shortly.
