@mail timeout
is there a reason the @mail timeout got switched from 30min/1800sec to just 5min/300sec??
having to log back in every five minutes to check mail is annoying.thanks. |

As long as you do something with in that 5 min it will not log you out. 30min seems a little long for a session for web mail.
We just changed this last night. If your checking your mail that much why not download it to outlook or anther mail client? I just don't see webmail as a full time mail client really.

for many of us, @mail IS a full time mail client, and if it's offered it should be supported as such. i use webmail to check mail at work, on the road, or in other situations where i don't have a machine, can't download or use a client-side app, etc. i don't understand why it's now not possible to leave a browser session open to retrieve mail w/o having to log in every 5 minutes to check it. if i spend over 5 minutes writing a detailed email and then hit send it'll get squashed because i've been timed out and have to log back in. do i now need to be saving drafts every minute? please consider changing things back. if @mail allows the option to auto-checkmail every hour at the max, it seems a bit over doing it to limit sessions to a 5-minute timeout. i'm sure i'm not the only one with legitimate concerns about such a short timeout. 30min is pretty reasonable. the only app i've ever used that timed me out in 5 was my health care site while processing a secure rx order. thanks. |

Within settings there is an option called "Inbox Refresh Rate" with the following options
Disabled - user would be logged out after 5 mins 10 Secs - User would remain logged in I assume but a bit of overkill 5 Mins - User is logged out (I tested this) 10, 20 and 30 mins now become redundant. How about at least settng it to 6 or maybe 11 minutes so we can have the mailbox refresh at 5 or 10 minute intervals to at least keep the session open. |

when the inbox refreshes now it pushes the browser to the forefront of the desktop (making it the active browser). it's a bit annoying when you're working on something else to suddenly have your active app knocked aside when @mail refreshes. i just don't understand why it can't be reset back to 30min. or, i guess i'm wondering what the reasoning behind shortening it was to begin with. no other webmail app has such a short timeout (i'm thinking hotmail, yahoo... the biggies). setting the inbox refresh rate also doesn't address being timed out when you're composing emails. the inbox refresh is not (or i assume not) working at that point (in simple mode), which means that even with it set you could be logged out while composing email, with anything typed now irretrievably lost. ![]() |

Yeah - I swear the setting was some insane number (days and days) and I thought that was unnecessary. 30 minute should suffice for everyone though...
