Caching Pages?????

Can anyone help me with this?

I am trying desperately to resolve what appears to be a caching problem. For the life of me I can not figure it out.

I change a page, upload the file and still see the old page.
I delete the page from the server and I still see the page.
I delete the entire folder from the server and still see the page.

I DO NOT use a cache in my browser. I can't stand them especially when developing. I always turn them off on every machine I use. I have tried from different machines, different ISPs and have even traveled to other destinations and STILL I see a page, pages, that are not on the server, I’ve deleted them.

I logged a ticket with support detailing the problem and the response I received was to confirm that the page was in fact being returned (they actually copied and pasted a snippet of the page that does not exist in the support response) and said that they do not cache on the servers. So I start wondering if I am losing my mind.

Then I think, OK great, but the page does not exist on the server. So if tech support can see a page that is not there, then the problem is? Leaving me to ask where is this page coming from?

I created a new directory under a different name for the files, knowing full well that I would get one shot at viewing my work. Low and behold, after one viewing, I can not change those pages either.

Does this not strike you as being odd or caching? Any help would be appreciated; I am losing hours of development time.

Thanks guys

If using IE try the following

Go to the page and hold down shift and hit F5
If that doesn't work Tools>Internet Options>Delete Files
If that doesn't work reboot your computer
If that doesn't work download netscape

I often have this problem in IE, in Netscape sometimes as well. The difference? When I tell Netscape to delete the cache it does

Best of luck

Nik

yeah...

Thanks for the tip, but that really only applies if you are using a cache in your Web browser.

If you turn the cache off in the browser, use a different machine, use a different machine and a different ISP, even drive to another location with a different machine and ISP and get a page that has been deleted from the server on your first try, it is unlikely to be the browser causing it.

Thanks for the tip though.

Got it figured out...

I talked with Mark and he indicated that it was IIS caching pages. Something goes awry in IIS every once in a great while and causes it to start caching pages.

He restarted IIS and the problem was gone.

Thanks for your help Mark. I thought I was going crazy.

Sry I guess I misread your question, I thot you were having problems with your browser not the server

Glad everything is working now!
