OPENSRS.NET can't recognise nameserver !!

I got this weird problem.It seems that Opensrs.net , integrated with H-Sphere
for domain registration ,cannot recognise my nameserver.

Error message:
Name server 'ns4.0101studentasp.com' is not found at the registry. Please double check the nameserver and re-submit. Name server 'ns3.0101studentasp.com' is not found at the registry. Please double check the nameserver and re-submit.

I used this nameserver for my client before, without any problem.
And namecheap.com my registrar recognize both of them.

I tried to email opensrs.net but unfortunately they did not reply.

Can anybody help?
ns3.0101studentasp.com
ns4.0101studentasp.com

And i resubmitted them for registration.

ns4.0101studentasp.com -> 216.157.129.251
ns3.0101studentasp.com -> 216.157.131.129

If they are not registered , how come namecheap
recognized them but not opensrs.net ?

Anybody got the same problem ?

why do you have them as ns3 and ns4.

Mine are
ns2.yourservicedomain.com ns2.hsphere.cc (DNS Server) 216.157.129.251

ns3.yourservicedomain.com ns3.hsphere.cc (DNS Server) 216.157.131.129

some people may have named the aliases different, (like me, they may have started with ns1 and gone through to ns4)
I do know that with OpenSRS you have to register your name servers with them, before you can use them. I sent them an email to do this, but im pretty sure you can do it somewhere on their site.

Michael,
I take it that you already registered these Name Servers? It sounds like that you are just trying to point a domain to them? I show that [0101studentasp.com] was originally registered with Enom:
Domain Name: 0101STUDENTASP.COM
Registrar: ENOM, INC.
Whois Server: whois.enom.com
Referral URL: http://www.enom.com
Name Server: NS1.0101STUDENTASP.COM
Name Server: NS2.0101STUDENTASP.COM
Status: ACTIVE
Updated Date: 15-may-2003
Creation Date: 13-may-2003
Expiration Date: 13-may-2004

This is where you would register these Name Servers if you haven't already done that. If you have already registered them, and are just trying to point a domain to them, then I would suggest putting in a Trouble Ticket and we will research it.

Just another note, using shared servers for students to "test your code" shouldnt be alowed, and im sure there are pleanty of other resellers here who will say the same thing.

The server are production servers and if bad code is run on any of the server which crashes them it will result in all the sites on the server being affected, which in turn affects our livelihood. Testing code should be done on Test Server, before it is uploaded to production servers, where it isnt going to affect anyone else.

Well that was my plan but none of my clients are students anyway.
It cannot be that the nameservers failed to be registered. If that is so, then some of my client
should not be able to access their domain using ns3
or ns4 .
I already put a TT but support says the problem is with
OpenSRS.net . Unfortunately they are not replying my emails..

Hey Bobi
The Open SRS Shows both names as registered already:

Server Name: NS3.NETEGYPT.NET
IP Address: 216.157.131.129
Registrar: TUCOWS, INC.
Whois Server: whois.opensrs.net
Referral URL: http://www.opensrs.org

Server Name: NS2.NETEGYPT.NET
IP Address: 216.157.129.251
Registrar: TUCOWS, INC.
Whois Server: whois.opensrs.net
Referral URL: http://www.opensrs.org
Where is it giving you the error. When trying to add a nameserver to a domain?.

Address: 65.57.231.120

NETEGYPT.NET nameserver = ns2.NETEGYPT.NET
NETEGYPT.NET nameserver = ns3.NETEGYPT.NET

ns2.NETEGYPT.NET internet address = 216.157.129.251
ns3.NETEGYPT.NET internet address = 216.157.131.129

I know that netegypt.net is already registered (as this is my main domain).

I have been trying to register another domain!!

I guess openSRS, has just made changes and now the system doesn't register anymore domain names that has nameservers on Vortech

bobi,
it is unclear what your problem is. Are you saying that you are trying to use hsphere's opensrs interface to register a domain for a client and are recieving this error via hs cp? If so the confusing part would seem to be why it says it is trying to update a nameserver. I assume you setup the ability to use opensrs via hsphere.

I've listed below a few things to check as well as a brief outline. The key thing to remember is that registering your service plan nameservers at your registrar and listing your nameservers to use with a particular domain are NOT the same thing.

Check the following
Login to your reseller cp(yourreselleraccount),
go to
Emanager
Server Aliases
What is listed at the top under Reseller`s DNS server aliases?
A)These are the aliases that need to be registered at your registrar that will be used by different domains

Now login to your Service Plan Account(yourservicedomain)
Go to Domain Settings, Domain Info
Click the edit link next to your Service Domain netegypt.net
You are now at the Edit Domain Screen. The 4th entry down is nameservers.
What are the nameservers for the Service Domain?
B) These are the nameservers to be listed at this particular domain's registrar

Now login to your first client's Control Panel
Go to Domain Settings, Domain Info
Click the edit link next to the domain you are having trouble with
You are now at the Edit Domain Screen. The 4th entry down is nameservers.
What are the nameservers for this Domain?
C) These are the nameservers to be listed at this particular domain's registrar

Now login to your last client's Control Panel
Go to Domain Settings, Domain Info
Click the edit link next to the domain you are having trouble with
You are now at the Edit Domain Screen. The 4th entry down is nameservers.
What are the nameservers for this Domain?
D) These are the nameservers to be listed at this particular domain's registrar

A)The nameservers listed under Reseller`s DNS server aliases in your reseller cp must be registered with your registrar. There can be anywhere from 2-4 entries. This can increase overtime as more DNS nameservers are added.

B)The 2 nameservers listed for your Service Domain must be listed at your registrar as the nameservers for this domain. There will only be 2 entries.

C)The 2 nameservers listed for a domain your first client that must be assigned at your registrar as the nameservers for this domain. There will only be 2 entries.

D)The 2 nameservers listed for a domain your last client that must be assigned at your registrar as the nameservers for this domain. There will only be 2 entries.

B nameservers must be found in the list of A nameservers
C nameservers must be found in the list of A nameservers
D nameservers must be found in the list of A nameservers
B & C & D may or may not have the same nameservers

Below is a sample from my accounts
A. Reseller`s DNS server aliases
ns.myservicedomain.com ns.hsphere.cc (DNS Server) 65.57.225.150
ns1.myservicedomain.com ns1.hsphere.cc (DNS Server) 65.57.225.249
ns2.myservicedomain.com ns2.hsphere.cc (DNS Server) 216.157.129.251
ns3.myservicedomain.com ns3.hsphere.cc (DNS Server) 216.157.131.129

B. Service Plan NameServers
ns1.myservicedomain.com 65.57.225.249
ns.myservicedomain.com 65.57.225.150

C. Client Domain Servers
ns1.myservicedomain.com 65.57.225.249
ns.myservicedomain.com 65.57.225.150

D. Client Domain Servers for a new client added last week to NT28
ns2.myservicedomain.com 216.157.129.251
ns3.myservicedomain.com 216.157.131.129

A)At my register, I registered the domain servers from A
ns.myservicedomain.com 65.57.225.150
ns1.myservicedomain.com 65.57.225.249
ns2.myservicedomain.com 216.157.129.251
ns3.myservicedomain.com 216.157.131.129

This registration acts as a pointer to tell browsers where to look to find the actual location of a domain that uses these nameservers. You will need to enter the ip addresses

B)At my Register I then listed
ns1.myservicedomain.com
ns.myservicedomain.com
as the nameservers for myservicedomain.com. You will notice no ip addresses are used. Now anyone looking for myservicedomain.com will be directed to one of these nameservers to find the address.

C)My first client went to their registrar for theCdomain.com and
assigned
ns1.myservicedomain.com
ns.myservicedomain.com
as the nameservers to use. They had received this info in their welcome info email. They make no mention of ns2 or ns3 as they are not the correct nameservers for this particular domain and they didn't even exist when they came to me as a client. You will notice no ip addresses are used.

D) My lastest client went to their registrar for theDdomain.com and
assigned
ns2.myservicedomain.com
ns3.myservicedomain.com
as the nameservers to use. They had received this info in their welcome info email. They make no mention of ns or ns1 as they are not the correct nameservers for their particular domain. You will notice no ip addresses are used.

My next client will mostly likely be told to use
ns2.myservicedomain.com
ns3.myservicedomain.com
in their welcome email as those are the active nameservers right now for new accounts. Of course this would change if we end up adding more DNS servers at a later date
