That explains it. Can I get rid of the cp in front of my URL for my sign up links?

I'm pretty sure the control panel needs to use the specific host cp.yourdomain.com so you'll probably need to get your certificate revoked and get a new one using cp.yourdomain.com. I had to do that once and they refunded me for the revoked cert so I wasn't out anything. Good luck. =)

But...

then I would need one just for customer sign ups and another one if I want to run a secure shopping cart for merchandise? Can't I do both with one certificate?

Well.. you can get a wildcard cert that will work with both for over $400, or you can buy two separate ones. If you just need two it's cheaper to buy two separate ones.

Hope this helps,

Adam

Thanks, nothing is as easy as it looks first. Guess I have to get mine changed for now and maybe buy another one later when I really need it. I know I can do that within 7 days without charge. Do I need a restart of my CPanel again after I installed it?

The CP SSL still not working for me, even after CP has been restarted by Vortech. There is a trouble ticket submitted, but its been over 18 hours since submitted and still no reply.

Dan-

If you would like to post or PM me a link I'd be happy to help take a look to determine the problem.

dwhite I replied to your ticket.

You never did the change URL to make it cp.youdomain.com you still had it on the temp URL we give out.

Update - I figured out what you meant by the temp address. Its is changed now. I missed that step in reading the docs evidently. Everything should work now.

Thanks,

Dan W.

P.S. As for your answer to the trouble ticket, I just received the email notice for it. It is timestamped as Nov 18, 2002 3:52:00 PM.

Unhappy

Now its not working again. I really need some help with this. Customers are shut out of their control panels, and I can no longer get into mine. I've submitted a ticket, but no response since my post to that ticket on Nov 20, 2002 4:38:36 PM.

Tech support told me that the problem was because my nameservers had not propogated yet. I've checked my nameservers listing at the registrar and it appears correct and has not changed for over a month now. I was able to get into the service domain and admin control panels just fine before this. The change to the CP SSL worked the first day after I changed the URL as noted here. But now, its a bust, and doesn't work at all.

I would really appreciate it if someone would help me solve this puzzle.

Dan-

This may be a little tough over the message board. If you want to contact me via an IM client I can quickly step you through all the things that need to be checked to get to the bottom of this.

Solution

Here's the deal, we went through all of his settings together and set up a hosts entry pointing to his correct IP address to test his SSL cert, everything is working fine EXCEPT that the DNS servers are giving out the wrong IP address for his control panel. The correct IP is shown in his DNS Zone from within HSphere, but the IP address the servers are giving out at this time are incorrect. I don't know if this is something that restarting the CP will fix, or if PSoft needs to take a look, but if you can get the DNS servers set up to give out the correct IP, he'll be up and running.

Hope this helps,

Adam

I took another look this morning and Matrix has fixed the DNS servers so they are now returning the correct IP address. The CP pulls up just fine now. Looks good! You should be good to go dwhite. Good luck.
