Can resellers have resellers?
Hi everyone,
Has anyone figured out a way to have their own resellers using this service? I was thinking the possibility was to create new admin accounts with the proper space allocations, then bill them accordingly, can someone punch some holes in this theory for me? Theres been several discussion in the past on this and the main thing thats come out of most of them is that Vortech does not encourage you to try and "resell" reseller plans or fudge the system to try and offer reseller capabilities.

Plus support for the resellers, resellers end customer would take longer. Sice we only deal with our direct customers. It would be bad for the end users..

Remember, though, that the way HSphere is set up, a resellers end user can still resell their space, just without a dedicated control panel. If you allow them unlimited domains, they can signup people until the cows come home, so long as they don't need any CP. Of course, subFTP on windows doesn't exist, so you have to get creative on that side.

But it still comes down to, at this time we do not allow resellers to have their own resellers due to the mess it would cause with support for us and the reseller.

Agreed, I meant in a technical way an end user can have end users, but they in no way should abuse the support system. If someone is making money off of someone else, they should directly support them.
Resellers that want true resellers with full CP support need a dedicated box. |

So the main thing is to stress that support is to be provided by the reseller's reseller, but isn't that the way it is already, I support all my own clients and only go to vortech if it's something beyond my capable hands. I understand the possible strain on the support staff from unknowldgeable resellers, so I agree that this is not an optioin at the moment, but it should be looked into and further developed. It could mean lots more business for everyone involved.

Think about how long the chain would be to get support. You have a customer who is a reseller who has a customer that needs help. It could take a good deal of time for the customer at the end of the line to get actual support. Personally, I would not want to be on the end of that chain.
We deal with enough support issues just for resellers having customers, therefore I can not even imagine the chaos if the resellers had their own resellers who had customers. We want to keep support ticket answer times down, not cause them to go up.

Yeah, I also totally agree that resellers for resellers is a BAD idea.
If you truly want to have your own resellers, then you should have the means to get your own dedicated server(s). Plus, the second you start adding that layer of resellers, the prices will have to go up, and I guarantee that most of us resellers wouldn't want that. I would be curious what kind of response you would get if you polled everyone. |

frankly .....i think on a Poll , majority maybe YES to reseller chain . What the heck , imyself started a simmilar thread but having a second Admin account is kinda risky ..... he can authorize / moderate signups means he can manipulate prices for plans , with factors like IP's , Urchin , ColdFusion and H-Sphere accounts all chargebale - not to mention Disk Space allocation ..... its kinda scary

Imagine how many servers we would have to maintain and add to keep up with resellers having their own resellers. I would say the prices would definitely go up to compensate for additional equipment, tech support, etc that we would have to put in.
