Question Telligent Systems Community Server 1.1

I'm trying to get an installation of Telligent Systems Community Server running.

http://communityserver.org/

I have an nt host plan set up and running and the installation of Community Server went well... The web site starts up and displays it's forums and blogs just fine, but it will now allow you to log in.

It's acting like there's no session state, but I know that's not the case.

Has anyone successfully set up Community Server before? Does anyone have any recommendations for my problem?

-Thanks

It's a legitimate question, community server is becoming quite popular as a windows CMS system.

Never tried installing it here yet though, so not sure what problems you'll face. DNN has been a nightmare for many people to get working so not sure if community server will be any easier.

No, it's not spam so tell your bells to chill. lol

If it was trying to spam I wouldnt be bitching about how it doesnt work. :P

Sorry about not posting a test install link with the original post though.

Anyway... Strangely enough, after reinstalling using the *exact* same procedure and configuration the login problem disappeared.

But... Then I couldnt post anything because the special text box component used was generating errors on the server. So I got frustrated and gave up for the day

This morning, I tried it again *after changing absolutely nothing*, and it works just fine.

So I'm at a loss... Phantom bugs and self healing text boxes...

I've set up a test install at http://blogs.pcsmith.info/ for anyone that would like to log in and try posting to the test blog or gallery.

I paid a professional to install Community Server (CS). He's supposedly done it a few times.

After his first hour of working on the site... his comments were something like: "I cannot belive how long it takes for the SQL scripts to run." and "I'm shocked at all the errors while installing CS."

He tells me that he has not ran into either issue when installing CS on other servers.

Other than issues with the SQL scripts I've noticed that many of the files & folders don't get transfered/set-up like they should and that I have to manually transfer or create them on the Vortech server.

We've worked on the CS install for a while now but we are still running into bugs here and there.

Long story short... we both determined that the Vortech servers are not CS friendly.

So: No using DNN or CS without major patience and experience.

Most likely same old story, the scripts are set up assuming dbo access has been granted to the logon on the database. Probably find setting it up much easier if you just submit a ticket to get dbo setup before starting the install.
