Mail1 will be going down shortly for stage one of its planned HD upgrade. This should take its performance under stress up a notch or two. I expect downtime to be 30-60 minutes.

I still cannot access my mails.

But, the IP monitor shows that mail1 is up and working?

actually the monitor is showing three services as missing - notice no green arrows. That probably means they took the server off the monitor since it's a planned outage.

Yeah... it's taking for bloody ever. That drive is evidently just about ready for retirement (and now you know why mail1 chokes on stuff that the other servers don't even notice). New ETA is probably over three hours.

Well, I could interrupt it, bring mail service back up and, before the week is over, you would be getting no mail at all. It would all bounce with "no space" errors.

How about the mails (those that have not been downloaded yet). Will all mails be intact?

RFC's require that the sending mail servers queue email for at least 24 hours. There should be no loss......

Oops! That didn't answer your question, did it? The mail on the server when we took it down, this is being trasferred to a new drive, which is the reason for the delays.
