Has anyone experienced MS SQL Replication problems due to inadequate user rights?

I setup a database and gave access to a vendor to setup replication. When he tries to push data, he gets an error message saying -

Only members of the sysadmin or db_owner roles can perform this operation
Source: THUMMAS.COM (Data source); Error number: 21050

I have already opened a ticket but figured this could help others who are in a similar situation (I didn't find any postings on this site that seemed relevant to this problem).

BTW, I am a Technical Project Manager so I know a little bit about databases but I am not a DBA. Thanks in advance for any help.

Vortech doesn't support replication. If your just copying data to the server to populate the database then use a DTS Job instead.
