Looking for Shopping Cart
I've been reading through some of the post and now I am a little confused.
I was going to use StoreFront 6.0 for one of my customers, but it doesn't look like it is supported. Overall, I like the Admin it offers, plus it was going to work for my clients needs. I also looked at CandyStore and CyberStong. But it looks like CandyStore was bought out. Whats the status with them? and I don't really want an ASP solution. The requirements that I have for a store are: 1. Easy to Use Control Panel to add products, photos, etc. 2. I need to be able to hide/show certain products. My customer sells apparel to different companies and wants to have a order page with Company/Logo specific products for each of his clients . thanks for any input. |

Candypress is still there. But it is purely ASP. I've struggled with legacy versions of StoreFront, so I stay away from it like the plague. For your needs (if you can get over the ASP issue) is to go with CandyPress. It's extremely easy to migrate into your look/feel, and it's well written and documented. Easy to mod as well. |

I don't believe there are many carts out there thant can show a given list of items to a given customer. You could probably mod cp to do it though with a custom login. There are a lot of people in the forums who will write mods for you.
CP did get bought out, but product was recently updated, works great, and is highly recommended. Its all I will use. My guess is that they will probably repackage it at and offer it at a higher price.

I noticed that each page in CP has a breadcrumb, and that the categories on based off of the Root. Is there any way to setup the businesses as categories, and point each business directly to their own page, with out showing the breadcrumbs or search functionality? I hope I am making sense. If not, what type of dev would need to be done to do this and where should I post or go about getting a quote? thanks a million... |

"I've struggled with legacy versions of StoreFront, so I stay away from it like the plague."
I have been modifying StoreFront (SF) 5AE for nearly three years now. I share the opinion that it should be avoided and unless you are well versed in the dot net framework, modification is difficult. I have one store with SF and I have to host it elsewhere... the people there who are a key service provider for SF clients also suggests avoiding the net version (6 months ago.) I have used CandyPress (CP) and by far it is a much better deal. As far as FTPless file uploads and image manipulation, it suffers a little but the modifications I was forced to build for SF are plugging into CP quite well. If you are not afraid of ASP scripting, I would recommend CP. Also... IMO... if you are planning on hosting the site here, CP would be a wise choice because of the active posters (and one moderator) have experience with the package and from experience, it installs on the Windows servers flawlessly. My 2¢ |

So my answer would be yeah, and from the sound of what you want is pretty simple. All it would take to remove the search is delete it from the template. As for a quote write up what you want in the thread and have ppl pm you with a quote for the work. You could also look at www.rentacoder.com for ppl to do the work. |

I installed the CP FrontEnd, I guess it doesn't do much for me without the back-end
Anyway, in my search I found comersus. I guess that CP is based off of it. Has anyone used that cart? What are the differences? thanks |

The main difference is the cost of the back end. You'll save about 100 bucks if you go with CP. My experience is that you will have to modify ANYTHING you decide to start with, so my theory is find one that is affordable and works well then go from there. I have reviewed comersus a few years ago, I find the file structure confusing and complicated. But you're right; the two are closely "related."
