If PING and your services are down (HTTP, FTP, SMTP, POP3) then its safe to assume your having some issues. Otherwise, the SNMP sensors are pretty much so we can keep an eye on the servers and be alerted to anything that may cause a problem with the main services, but these sesnors being down does not necessarily indicate that your site is offline or other services are unavailable.

If you want, just show the sensors that correspond to the actual services, and leave out the rest... that may be better than showing yellow on something that isn't necessarily an issue - they are for taking preventative measures.

Yeah, I have found most servers I have used are about a day. I just couldn't believe that many people here were sending to hotmail. I know it is a big service, but I don't see as many hotmails as I do yahoos and actually I don't see that many of either from literally hundreds of customers (which is not the same as thousands of course ) various domains either isps or business domains. Mainly because it is a not a very good email svc. Most of my customers are local so maybe just not as common here.
