Lightbulb Online Survey application for resellers or your clients

Hi everyone. This is basically a copy of the message in the "Affiliate" thread, but this thread is here for feedback and suggestions about this application, which hopefully will be of use to someone!

I write web software under the name Antic Systems, and I've set up an online survey application, which may be useful for sending out email surveys to your clients, etc.

The URL is: http://www.anticsystems.com/surveys/

Login Name: vortech
Password: vortech

There's a "Demo Survey" there already, but please make a copy of it (use the copy survey button) and fiddle with the copy, so that other people can do the same, leaving the Demo one as a kind of start-up template.

Edit your survey, preview it, change the HTML and question content. Send it out to up to 5 recipients (restricted to 5 for now for testing purposes) and then see the report of your survey results as people respond!

The idea is that your recipients receive an email (text is customisable at the bottom of the Edit Survey page) which includes a link to the survey itself, which opens in their browser when they click on it.

The recipient answers the questions, submits the survey, and gets a Thank You page at the end.

Once you have at least one response, you can click the Report button to see a statistical report of the responses, and view all the open-ended question text that was submitted.

Let me know how you go - respond to this thread with feedback and suggestions and of course bugs!

If you have clients who would like to use it themsleves (and PAY you for it, and in turn you lease it from me, that sort of thing) then please let me know and we can arrange something mutually beneficial!

If this works out, I intend to make some other applications available as well.

Oh yeah - it's running perfectly well on the Vortech servers, so if you'd like to actually purchase the sofwtare to install on your own account, and fiddle with as you like, then let me know also. I have no idea on pricing as yet, so suggestions welcome.

Cheers peeps,

Andrew

Thanks I've had a look and its very good... took a little 'playing' with to get the hang of a few things - but it is early here in the UK (and I haven't pushed the choke in ).

Haven't sent out a survey - no offence, but I'm one of those 'cautious' types - never like putting email address's anywhere (+ I only know two people ).

Good luck with it - would be interested in what you let it go for

Thanks Garreg. At the moment, the email addresses aren't actually stored anywhere in the database, but they do appear in the activity log file.

Perhaps that's an issue atm, since everyone is using the same Demo account, so everyone can see each other's stuff, but I can create a separate login for you if you want to play privately, so to speak.

Let me know if you'd like a separate login - that applies to anyone else to - best to PM me about it with your desired login and password.

Cost is definitely a factor.
I am interested in the idea.

ok.. had a think about it, and I'm thinking cost would be US$100 per 3 months, with 1000 recipients included (total, not per survey). additional recipients purchased within the current billing period for US$2 per 100.

Anybody want to haggle?

Sorry Antic - you'll have to beat -> http://www.surveymonkey.com/Pricing.asp
for me to consider it.

How much for the software it's self - have you considered selling copies of it?

I have been looking for a survey program, there seems to be a lot of free PHP ones around. Not sure I would want to really pay for one..

I'm going to be a really nit-picker here. There's no "Mrs" or "Miss" option in your title drop-down for the mailout. I'm a "Mrs" and I detest being called "Ms".

You might also note that in one of my programs which uses titles in drop-downs, it ended up having about 10 different items to accomodate clients who were:
Rabbi
Pastor
Sir
Lady
Sister
Dr

etc. In retrospect, I almost thought it would have been easier to just let people type the title in rather than picking from a specific list. Or, at least let them edit the list. Just my 2.2 cents.

Maybe logic404 last suggestion. I actually don't like formal titles like Mr. or Mrs. Rabbi, etc, is different. But some people do like them. However, you usually have to have a title if you only have a last name.

From a business perspective, I tend to like Mr., Mrs.,Miss.,Ms., etc because they give a definitive indication of gender.

As a customer, I don't tend to like being addressed by my first name in an invoice or mass mail-out. It makes me feel like they're being a little too friendly with me!!!

Personal preference, I guess.

Definitely a pref thing. I am not awfully fond of just the first name basis. What I meant was that a title of Mr. Mrs. or Ms. doesn't really matter and seems a little stiff to me. First and last was my preferred in print anyway. I think, that there should be flexibility there, that is for sure. I hate when you have limited choices and you have to choose. Like you were saying...if you call someone a Ms. and they are a Mrs....some people are bothered by this. Or their name mispelled etc. There are places where one just seems more appropriate than others.

Thanks for all the feedback, everyone!

Yessss... I didn't come across SurveyMonkey, I was looking at Zoomerang prices which are mroe expensive. In view of this, the price will have to be around $15 per month.

I guess applications like this are bit "done" now... especially seeing all the links given on the SurveyMonkey page!!

Well, if anyone still thinks it's useful at that price, let me know! I'm open to making suggested changes. I'll add more options to the "title" dropdown - it's still good having a dropdown as kind of keyboard-shortcut instead of typing in "Mr" all the time, etc.

As for selling the code, it would only be worth it if there was a lot of interest. If you think there's anything particularly useful about mine (perhaps in the survey construction methodology) let me know and make an offer in a PM!

Thanks again!
