O'Reilly are good too forgot about them .. the only other publisher I've brought from and found good is Wrox.

I do have this tendancy to buy technical books when I see them on special and then they sit on the shelf never read becuase I just fumble my way through issues until I solve them usually .. I've got a really good reference library if only I ever used it lol.

O'reilly is very good. I find particularly for learning a programming/scripting languages. Having a reference is invaluable for that. Nice thing about the books is they give you a break from the pc, but you can still continue learning. We all know how hard it is on us to be in front of a pc for too long. I can't wait for portable book readers to become more mainstream. Teach your self books I also like. I have also found exam cram books to also be good.

Oh another good line, but limited in usage are the visual quick start books.

I liked the Wrox books. I yjonk I used them for ASP, ActiveX, and Javascript. They were a mixed blessing though. Written by teams of developers, I found that everything I needed to know was in them - somewhere. They were a little lacking in organizing the info, but if you could find it, they alsways had a pertinant example. I think Wrox got bought out by O'Reilly.

But talk about extreme, Still have my original C Programming Language book - 39 pages of basically command syntax. Signed by Kernigan and Ritchie though, so I keep it sealed - hell, it's my retirement plan - lol.
