The Tax Man Cometh
Does anyone any experience with tax deductions for time and services donated to charity? I designed and hosted a website for a 503.c organization and am now being told that I may not be able to take a deduction for it.

good question.
Your best bet may be to check the IRS publications - I think this one (Pub. 526) should be sufficient. http://www.irs.gov/pub/irs-pdf/p526.pdf From the way I read it, you can deduct contributions that cost you directly (ie: hosting expenses), but may not deduct the value of your time or services (ie: putting together a site because there's no out of pocket expenses on that). See pages 3-6 for the bulk of info. |
