Exclamation Server inconsistency

We developed a content managment system for a client on our system account which resides on "unix.hsphere.cc". It allows the user to upload JPG photos to the system. We moved the site to their new account on "unix2.hsphere.cc" when suddenly the php script stopped working.

We noticed by viewing the phpinfo.php on each server that the GD LIB for each is inconsistent.

"Unix" has GD version 2.0 / JPG enabled
"Unix2" has GD version 1.6.2 / (JPG is not enabled)

Please, oh please, try to make sure settings are consistent across servers. Because we can't choose which server our clients are hosted on, I need to rely on the fact that what we develop on unix1 will work on unix2.

We're on a deadline crunch with this client and because they can no longer upload jpegs on the new server, we might have to postpone their release date which I really can't afford to do.

We do try to get the the same the best we can. Please send in a ticket and we can have a tech check each server for this and see if we can update this on each of them.

I am not sure if different installs or versions of the OS could mess with this or not but it may.

Fortunately the ticket got the problem fixed above, but we've run into another frusterating experience.

Unix has magic quotes turned off, while Unix2 has magic quotes turned on.

Now our code has to be rewritten. I understand that if we got into the php.ini file, we could set our own settings, but I wish you could check the server consistency a little more thouroughly so we don't have to keep rewriting code or ini files from site to site, trying to weed out the inconsistencies ourselves.
