In my never ending quest to actually start my online store, I was browsing the osCommerce site and it seems they haven't had a release since July of 2003. Maybe I'm over paranoid and I'm answering my own question, but isn't it a bit strange they haven't had anything come out in 2 1/2 years with the exception of a single bugfix? Are they throwing in the towel?

Milestone releases have not been forthcoming but the core seems to stable and the development work is in the Contributions or mods and add-ons. Take a look how actively these are being developed, introduced and supported. There are over a thousand contributions for adding features and the support for these seems to be quite good, and fast. It is a very large project with thousands of participants if you include those developing add-on contributions so it is safe to say it is not about to be dropped.
