Question Question on features?

Hi! I'm new to this and am trying to decide what plan I am going with (CPanel or HSphere). This is my main concern... I notice that you can set up resellers under you with CPanel (or so it seems grom my wandering), whereas I can't seem to find anything comparable in HSphere. Is this an option in HSphere? Is there a tutorial or directions somewhere on how to do this in HSphere also?

I like the automated billing option of HSphere, but I like the look and versatility I see in CPanel. *sigh*

TIA!
Heather

Hi Heather,

Actually, i don't think you can setup a "reseller" under either plan type.

there was a thread hee somewhere that had people arguing about which one was better,, i'll see if i can find it.

This is why I thought that...

When going to this page:

http://whmdemo.cpanel.net:2086/
(

It lists the following things:

"Reseller Account Termination You can now terminate all accounts owned by a reseller in the reseller center."

and there is a section labeled:

"Reseller Center"

This was actually the main reason I was going to move all my clients to this place. I was trying to find this option. :-D

Am I just confused, or is this not an option?

Thanks!
Heather

Well,, your half right.

If you have your own servers running WHM (like we do) you could sell reseller accounts (like we do).
but you are actually the next tier down,, if you follow me.
Does that make sense?

Another question or two....

I understand about the reseller aspect now. Too bad that's out of my reach financially right now, LOL!

Now I have a couple of other ones...

1. I notice in the CPanel Advanced features that you can offer additional PHP services (which is what I currently offer with the company I am with, and do not want to lose those options) but can't see a link for those on the demo. Is there a way I could see a screen shot of a CPanel that includes links to those features?

2. Are these features able to be turned on and off in individual plans?

3. Is it possible to custom brand the XSkin with my logo and info?

I have some questions about HSphere too (yes, I'm still going back and forth between the two, LOL) but I'll post them in the right forum.

Thanks for all your help. I'm pretty sure I'm going to be moving over in the next month or so, I just need to decide for sure that there won't be any major changes with my clients.

Have a great day!
Heather

Heres 2 screenshots of Fantastico, which house all the cool PHP stuff:

2. Are these features able to be turned on and off in individual plans?

No,, but theres no way to access them unless the client knows the "secret" Fantastico URL. if you don't give it to them, they won't be able to see those features.

3. Is it possible to custom brand the XSkin with my logo and info?

At this time i believe theres about 15 skins in there. I don't know much about how to customize CPanel yet. i'd have to get back to you on that one.

Question

The other company I am hosting with now, have CPanel on Linux servers and they allow to upload customized the themes.

I wonder if it is still possible under Matrix.

BTW I have also read about the possibility of doing complete
backups from CPanel. (I read about this on the demo link you have here at Matrix). Is this feature really working?

According to our Unix admin, uploading your own custom CP template is not suported yet.

The backup feature works great, I've tested it myself.

Remember some control panels work differently on FreeBSD than on linux.
I personally prefer FreeBSD as my server OS, and linux as my play/desktop OS.
It is likely that the permissions for FreeBSD are different and they do not yet support user uploadable themes because of the more secure nature of FreeBSD.
I would get technical about root, wheel, and all that stuff but if you want to know there are plenty web pages documenting differences, and major ones too.

Hi Craig!

Is there any possibility to add this type of customization in the near future?

Thanks!

This is possible, but I have no info on that as of yet.
