Webmail

I know you've all been wondering about what's going on the Webmail situation, so I wanted to give you folks an update on the latest...

I've been watching the errors logs, and I've also completely deactivated that "upgrade" text message that had been appearing for you and your customers. I have also created a "friendly error" message that replaces that Internal Server Error many of you were receiving in some cases. That particular server error is related to MySQL handling requests on another box that webmail uses to "do it's thing" more efficiently. It's having problems, which makes Apache spit out that nasty error message to you in the middle of your session.

The result of the change? Instead of seeing the error page, @Mail should now immediately make your browser "refresh" itself and reattempt the same page or function that just failed. In most cases, that second attempt works right! This doesn't fix the problem, but it does get rid of the error message that stops you cold.

This change appears to be getting most of you and your clients through @Mail a little nicer. I'm going to continue working with another gentleman here to get the MySQL connection matter resolved, but at least most of you guys won't have those errors to stare at any longer. I know it can be frustrating for you.

It looks like someone's actually be trying to fix the MySQL problem that causes those messages. Not sure what has changed since my first post above, but I'll report further in here when I get into work later today.

Yes, someone's still working on the Webmail bugs. Apparently some of my tweaking was either disabled or altered for them to test their troubleshooting of the problem... so it looks like some of you are still going to see error messages while the bugs are worked out. It does not seem to want to make MySQL connections to it's neighboring webmail database server. One of us will try to post more in here as information develops.
