Hello again,
For some reason, the conf files were being marked as bad. Configurations have been restored from backup and unix4 is functional.

Thanks for the info Brian a costumer called me at about 06.05 my "site is down GET BACK TO ME" by the time I got to his site it was up. So at the time I didn't know if that was a server or his ISP, but I apologize any way told him sorry that was a re-boot. He does not know what re-boot is, he is one of the businesspersons who is trying to catch-up with Jones’s, Thank God for that.

Problems with Apache again on Unix4?
I could not reach my sites thorugh HTTP

My CP has always used 216.157.148.2 as Shared IP for UNIX4
Is this correct?

Shouldn't it be 216.157.145.204?

Support told me unix4 is currently being targeted by a DDOS attack.
They are working on the issue and hope to have everything restored as soon as
possible.

The DDoS was targeted at one site. I suspended the domain and then blocked all IPs trying to access the suspended page. It's messy, but its about the best you can do when it comes to a DDoS.

Yes it is. More and more computers seem to be joining the attack. So far I have blocked 946 IPs. The server is responding, it's just sluggish due to the traffic. I have been restarting Apache from time to time to help close some of the bad connections.

Could we know the domain under attack?

It would help to know. My site on Unix4 is not accessible on/off. I have a monitor report it was down for up to 1Hr 10 min and reported was up again. However I tried access and still could not get through, meaning no response but sluggish. Wondering if this means it is not my domain under attack?

Just want to know if any of my domains is under attack that's all. Should I submit a ticket?

BTW I tried FTP and the service is okay; Since it is my service domain, I tried the CP is also okay; I am going to speculate that my domain is not the one under attack.

This problem seems to be getting worse instead of better. Can it be taken care of? I'm not familiar with Ddos attacks, but if the only line of defense is blocking ip's, ouch, if it has grown from 1 to 900 something

http://grc.com has an excellent article on DDoS that you can refer customers to.

Tell them the attack is aimed at them by their competitors, and you are working on it - That should appeal to their egos

Exactly how would one quantify lost business because of a website being unavailable? I'm just curious.

It has been down 6+ hours... Does he make $11,000 every 12 hours?

I'm not doubting him (or you), I'm just wondering how one accurately measures lost business.
