any ETA for DDOS is impossible unfortunately... This is depend from many factor of DDOS - which port attacked, how attacked, how many virused/trojaned hosts attack victim domain/ip and etc.

Unix4 is still underattack. I just wanted to give an update as we are working on blocking IP's and quite honestly anything we can to stop or divert the attack. Your patience is very much appreciated. As soon as we have any information it will be posted here.

We are trying not to per say 'take the server down'. There are sites that work albeit slowly but they work. We are playing a game of tag with the attacker. We keep suspending sites but they just keep changing IP's. We are gonna keep at it. Unfortuantley with these kinds of attacks once they start you are playing a game of catch up. Thanks again for your patience.

The attachs seem to come in bursts now. One min the system is at a load of 0.50 and the next 5 min it's up to 20.00. We have 1200+ ips blocked now but they just keep changing IPs.

We changed the DNS for the site getting hit to 127.0.0.1 to try and turn the attack back on the systems attacking us, but that does not seem to be helping or working because it will take 24 hours or so for that to get out to all the systems already hitting us.

I am going back with the techs to work on this some more and see if there is any new IPs for us to block.

Service domain on unix4

My service domain is on unix4.

Should I wait to sign up a new account until the issues are resolved?

In the past how long have these attacks lasted?

I am asking this question here as others may be in similar boat.

Thanks,
b

Unfortunately, the length of an attack can not be predicted.

As far as far signups go, bubba. If you are creating a 'new account' it will go on the newest Unix box, Unix16. If you create another domain under the same user/account it will stay on that box (that your currently on) underneath your user name.

Hope that clarifies for you or anyone else who woul dhave the same question.

My sites on unix4 has been responfing quite well for the last 2 hours. Did you managed to block all IP's or they are still changing them?

Don't think this is over yet...

I have several sites on unix4. I'm happy to report that they all now load but do so slowly it makes them effectively unusable.

Something is still causing the slowdown. I hope that it resolves soon.

I used Slips quote made earlier today and it gave me a little breather. A travel site on unix4 actually seemed proud that someone would pick them to attack.

Quote:
Tell them the attack is aimed at them by their competitors, and you are working on it - That should appeal to their egos

Please do whatever you can to help us as another full day down will be hard to explain.

Hey Slips, got a good one for tomorrow?
