Dedicated/Colocated/Managed/UnManaged Servers

Sorry about this confusion guys. This is partly my fault.

We will now be offering 4 types of dedicated solutions.

1) Colocation as we have been. Pricing and specs here:
http://www.rapidcolo.com/colocation.html
THESE ARE NOT MANAGED

2) Dedicated Servers for whatever you like. Available with cPanel or H-Sphere or anything else you want on them.
THESE ARE NOT MANAGED. Support for anything other than hardware or reboots is $125.00 per hour.

Pricing and Specs see:
http://www.rapidcolo.com/servers.htm

3) H-Sphere 1,2,3,4 or more Server Clusters. THESE ARE NOT MANAGED.
These have not been made open to the public yet, but here is a super secret sneak preview:
http://www.rapidcolo.com/dedicated2.html

4) Finally, the MANAGED machines mentioned in the newsletter. Details are as follows.

1) Dedicated Windows 2000 or FreeBSD Server. Managed in our Reseller Cluster.

Cost: $550.00 per month based on a 12 month contract*
Setup Fee: FREE

First and last month rent ($1100.00) due prior to installation.
A 6 or 12 month contract will be required prior to installation.

*$600.00 per month based on a 6 month contract.

A Dedicated Windows machine will replace the Windows space available to you on the shared machines.

A Dedicated UNIX machine will replace the UNIX space available to you on the shared machines.

2) You must have one existing Reseller plan for this to work. Signup for or use an existing plan based on your required user accounts, bandwidth, mail, and database space accessed from our shared machines.

For example, if you have a cypher plan ($35.00), the monthly cost will be $35.00 + $550.00 = $585.00 per month.

You can still access the shared Mail, CP, MySql, MS SQL and Cold Fusion Machines as you would with a regular Reseller Account.

MatrixReseller will move your existing user accounts to your Dedicated Server FREE OF CHARGE.

3) Overage Prices:

Overage prices for H-Sphere licenses and Bandwidth will drop for Dedicated users.

H-SPhere Licenses (user accounts) will drop to $3.00 each.
Bandwidth per GB overage prices will drop to $1.50 per GB.

Additional Cold Fusion accounts will remain the same unless Cold Fusion is installed on your Dedicated Windows Machine. Adding Cold fusion to your Dedicated machine will require a valid Cold Fusion license which you will need to supply.

4)Server Hardware Specs:

CPU: Dual Intel XEON 2.4GHz or higher.
RAM: 1024 MB

Drive 1: 18GB SCSI 15Krpm
This drive is used for the system OS and H-Sphere.

Drive 2: 36GB SCSI 15Krpm
This drive is used for the "hshome" directory and all user content, log files and disk space.

5) Additional Windows or UNIX servers can be added to your plan at anytime. A 10% discount will be available to users who have 2 or more dedicated servers.

6) Management Features:

This package is 100% Managed by MatrixReseller.

MatrixReseller will manage all software and hardware for your Dedicated machine. We will do all updates to OS, software and security patches, and hardware monitoring as we do with our own machines.

Custom Installs for software not available on our other shared machines will be approved and installed upon request.

Backups will be done nightly exactly as they are now, and provided free of charge.

You will receive the exact same support and service as with an existing Reseller account, including phone, email and ticket support for you the Reseller. We will not support or contact your clients or end users.

I still think the dedicated server setup is waaaay out of wack, but....

the cluster setup looks really cool and is much closer to the right price with all the bonuses that come with it. But why would you have to get a reseller plan? if your paying for a dedicated server or cluster of servers...why would you also have to pay for a reseller account when that is not what you are doing? Hsphere accounts definately but pay for space? whats the point of having all that space if you have to pay for a reseller account to accommodatefor you useage of it?

Guys, please don't take this wrong, I have not been trying to bash Matrix they are hands down the best at what they do. But if we chime in an all give our opinions (both positive and negitive, in a constuctive mannor) it could help them eliminate some issues they might have in the future.

just my thoughts.

Your opinion is welcome as always.

You have to have a Reseller account for these reasons.

1) To use the H-Sphere control panel
2) To use the other servers in the cluster and have access to
a) the other OS
b) Database machines
c) Mail machines etc, al...

3) Management by us.

understandable...

How about an alternitive reseller account... limits on everything that isn't on the Ded box that are on other machines in the cluster and unlimited diskspace (well.. unlimited use of that harddrive in the Ded server) and a lot more bandwidth?

These managed system are for the users that need a LOT of hourse power per say. Like a big forum or site, or just want all there sites one one very stable box all to them self.

Also remember all the software we give on these box's, windows 2000, ALL the same COM's IIStracer and more.

We really don't plan to sell a lot of the managed servers with in our cluster but they are there.

We wil also have VPS here soon and if all goes well maybe Windows VPS in about 2 months. We will be using SW-soft for VPS since H-Spheres still has some issues..

So if for arguments sake I had a "reload" reseller plan becuase I have higer than average bandwidth requirements for all my customers and wanted to move to Dedicated, it would be $850 per month? .. ouch!

The silly thing is, the more customers a reseller has the less attractive using dedicated actually becomes I believe.

All customers on a dedicated with an outage means more complaints, it's far better imo to use the shared cluster and have your customers balanced out over multiple servers so that not everyone gets hit if one server has a hardware problem. Same deal applies if one of my customes has "bad code" and they're all on the same box I get every customer complaining then.

With that in mind, I don't personally see anything overly compelling about paying an additional $550 per month to be able to have a box(s) to myself.

Perhaps theres some other major benefit I'm just not thinking of right now?

$0.02

The only reason this plan came to be is because we had resellers requesting it. So, someone is indeed using this option as it was created before we ever announced it here.

I've requested it before myself actually, unfortunately I don't think the price point is right for me to consider using it taking into account the potential issues I posted earlier about outages effecting all my customers at once

I think the servers should be targeted more to people that need that CPU power, we have a few customers that already need it.

Its just to give you guys more options. I think the VPS's will fit you better Brangwyn..

I've always been a little weary of VPS's I think if having the choice 9/10 times I'd probably choose a full dedicated box instead, though having said that and having used Virtuozzo on *nix before it seemed pretty reliable, haven't had the opportunity to test it under Windows though.

I think the reseller cp thing w/ dedicated is a little strange. While I understand needing the cp, having it setup w/ the current setup plus dedicated does seem odd. As far as, price seems high to me too. Forgive me, not trying to be rude, but it sounds like a matter of not really wanting to do it, but if you are your gonna be paid well Since, I don't really need this it really isn't an issue for me now tho.
