Interesting

Do they allow access levels that permit domain association and alias creation through scripting? That would be outstanding.

what, are you trying to build a Hotmail?

No, I don't think this is possible, but I could certainly be wrong.

No sir... well yes sir... to a degree.

I would like to enable my clients to a point that they are able to register for and manage their own email accounts. With web access and user tools. QMail is well suited for that providing (and I am not hopeful) the proper permissions are in place.

I am REALLY hoping they have devmail.net installed on the .net servers and then my job would essentially be done.

I love it when that happens.

Still poking around and I love what I am finding.

I hear you - that would be a nice feature. Not that it takes long to create an account in HSphere, but that would certainly be an added bonus to let them do it.

Oh, and don't call me 'sir' - my name is 'mr. sir'

Welcome to Matrix!

If you are giving each of your clients a control panel, they can create and manage their email accounts in their control panel, similar to the Admin functions in Imail.

StoreFront 6

Have a client with storefront 6 that wants to host with me. After reading this I see that version 6 will not work on matrix servers. Is that still the case? Will that change in the future?
Thank you for a quick responds!

No, Storefront will not work on a Shared environment without causing a major security hole. Therefore, we do not support it.

How do I check COMS on the server

I am using Lagarde storefront 5.0 and reading this thread it says COMS are needed and that I should pay $25 a COM to have them added to my server or check if the COMS are already installed. How do I check if the COMS are already installed

Also,

I am trying to connect to my database remotely. Any advise how I connect to the database?

Also

How do I set up a MSADC?

Thanks
Donna

We have never installed the com's that I know of for storefront on any system. We don't support there setup as all. Last time I checked there site they needed us to make anther change on the servers that would cause security risk for us and we did not want that..

Storefront requires 2 coms and the MSDAC.

The 2 coms are non intrusive at all and perform two main functions.

1. Realtime UPS lookup (sure wish they would update it to use the http xml ups provides!), and Credit card encryption to be stored into database.

2. Their implementation of the sim authorize.net. (although they provide a new AIM integration which uses xmlhttp so ask for it!)

The BIG PROBLEM with the Storefront Product is the fact that they use MSDAC to make available to the users ODBC access to an ACCESS database located on the web server. This is an issue for security but more importantly it is NOT NECESSARY!!!! If you use storefront, I know matrix would be willing to put the components on the server but will NOT do the MSDAC requirement and I do not blame them! BUT, you can work around the MSDAC requirement by one of three methods. Use their SQL version and edit the database directly (I think the SQL version is a $800 upgrade), create custom pages to allow for the database updates, or three, be willing to download the database, make your changes, and the upload the database when your done.

Bottom line! Storefront is NOT the online shopping cart to use!!!! EVER! There is too many other apps out their that do not have as many server requirements that Storefront requires and for less money. Not to mention that you limit yourself to the hosts you can use that will support every requirement.! (www.your-site-solutions.com comes to mind)

I know Matrix will support the coms with a good explanation of what they actually do but the MSDAC is too much and LaGrade does not provide a way to edit the database directly without it so that is left to the users on how to make it happen.

(this is all in relation to the 5.0 version and I am not familiar with the 6.0 version)

That is all I have to say.
