Major Project Pending

Speaking of Classified ads...

If anyone has experience in this area, I'm currently taking proposals on making this work in PHP, ASP, or Cold Fusion (almost anything but PERL):

http://wanted.com/

P.S. It's a mock site to show the design and "use flow" - so save the posts telling me that it isn't working.

Possible - but not out-of-the-box

There are several programs out there that do classifieds, but not as required by the WANTED business model. As the name implies, you should be able to post an ad for something you WANT to buy. Thus the two options, whether you hit the Sell or Buy tab. Similarly, you need to be able to search what's for sale OR what's WANTED.

A lot of this stuff may be as easy as adding another field to a database (all results where newField = "wanted"), but still, it will require work, and I am an administrator - not a programmer.

Maybe I'll contact the creators of the various programs to see about modifications, but they are usually higher than independent teams.

Thanks tho.

TalentedFool: How quick do you need it? A friend of mine developed a site just like your looking for and would probably modify it to your needs - don't know how much they would sell it for, but I'll contact them if you want.

Sooner is better than later...

Thanks for the interest...

I need to get the thing generating funds, but I also don't want a half functional site dragging down the brand. So I guess I need it as soon as I can get it on the terms that I need it.

WANTED is one of several projects I am trying to get off the ground, so I'm not able to immediately give it the attention it deserves. I had a team in place and at the last minute (and just before Christmas) the deal fell apart.

I'm open to a wide range of possibilities as far as owning the software - whether your friend wants to sell it outright or issue a site license isn't that important to me. Obviously, I don't want to fund improvements to a program that will be resold all over the net, but I also don't need excluse rights to use it. Clearly, the strength of WANTED will be the brand - not the underlying technology.
