The unix servers should be good now. I fixed the apache restarts so updates to your vhost files should work again. If you're still having problems on the unix servers please let us know through a support ticket.

There's still about 10 windows servers being upgraded, and NT35 is still having permissions problems. I'm going to take a nap now. I've been up for 30 hours.....

Sandyx, it's really hard to say with the windows boxes as I said before. Problem is Psoft/H-Sphere changed the way permissions are done so they have to change every permission on every file in hshome where every site is on the server. The time is based on a lot of things such as: Number of Users, Number of Sites, Speed of server, Load on the server, number of files that have to be changed. This is something out of our hands as far as the upgrade goes we can only make it go as fast as it can go. We stop everything we can on the server to reduce the load.

I am heading back in now to look over the windows boxes with the most issues and figure out what is going on.

I am also going to check up on mysql I think a few people submitted tickets. This is also a HUGE change to the new version of mysql going to 4.1.

It would be really helpful if we can look at least a little bit intelligent when talking to our clients and some shared information would go a long way in helping in that direction.

So far all we really know is there is permission problems on the *nix boxes. But, of course, permissions are handled differently on Windows servers. Why are some up and some down? All we need is a little shared info from one tech person. I think that is a fair request, right?

Steve

As announced on 1/24/07, on February 5th at 11:00PM ET we began to upgrade H-Sphere from its current version. It was also announced that the upgrade will take **a minimum of 8 hours** to complete and that was ONLY an estimate. At that time it was RECOMMENDED that you inform your customers that the upgrade would take a **a minimum of 8 hours**, to help you deal with your customers. You may need to explain to them that this is a huge upgrade and that the estimate of the minimum amount of time it may take was in no way a guarantee that it would be completed in that amount of time. The upgrade is still in progress and many of the features are not accessible. All of the information in regards to the upgrade has been posted and emailed to EVERY reseller so that you can "intelligently" deal with your customers. The techs are posting updates as they can.

If you're having trouble with one of the servers that is already completed, please submit a trouble ticket and the technicians will look into it as soon as possible.

EVERYONE PLEASE DO NOT SUBMIT TICKETS STATING THE CP IS DOWN as that only wastes time the technicians could be using to get the issues they need to address fixed.

It would help a lot if you could list which servers you feel are "done" and which ones are still having issues (and which issues you are seeing).

Yes, this would be very helpful. It is not clear if all unix servers are done. Actually some of them have HTTP service DOWN.

Just a compliment about the communications from Vortech...

There have been a few times in the past where we were in the dark about issues that were being worked on. This time however, not only was there advanced notice (with plenty of time to notify our customers), there have been regular status posts.

Given the magnitude of the work that is being done, I think this is going amazingly well. Most of us were chomping at the bit to upgrade, and I think a little bit of patience is not too much to ask.

I must have missed that being annouced as part of the upgrade .. I personally had many problems with many customer DB's when we did the same upgrade, took quite a bit of sorting out afterwards heres hoping your's goes smoother .. with mine I found we had to completely redo the schema for many DB's to get them working again fully.

phpMyAdmin in the CP link is now valid. Only NT49 and NT50 are still updating. We are going to hold off on MySQL 4.1 (only temporarily) as the upgrade apparently did not require it. We want more time to look into possible problems, but I think either way it will be a nightmare.
