At this time,
Can we announce to potentials customers that Cold Fusion is available?
if yes,
Is there any additionnal cost per domain? is still 10$/domain?

the server won't be online until Monday.

My guess is the cost will be the same as CF5, especially considering they tried to install it a long time ago (and weren't going to charge extra for it).

Coldfusion MX

I remember reading somewhere that you could only get MX to work with Hsphere on Server2003. If that is the case, how do I ensure my customers land on nt26?

Thanks

Chris

at this point, the only sure way is if there are no Win2000 servers in the HSphere chain at the time of signup. Brad has already said that he will be adding a few more Win2003 servers soon, and will hopefully have all the 2000 machines out by then.

Only if he has to reinstate a 2000 server (if a bunch of users delete from it) will it be an issue. Just be sure that your new signups (hopefully they're moderated) are on the server you want. If they're not, try again until it works. I know this isn't the best way to do it, but I don't think HSphere will ever distinguish between 2000 and 2003.

sorry if I'm being slow on this, but does that mean currently the only way to get an account set up on nt26 is to signup and cross your fingers in the hope you hit nt26?

Ideally I would like to use cfmx on my service account but am guessing it will be a hassle to move. Am I right?

Thanks

First, apparently NT26 won't be available until Monday.

Second, if Win2003 and Win2000 servers are on for HSphere to use for new signups, it will be by luck that you get on the 2003 machine.

Only if all the Windows machines available are 2003 will it be guaranteed to be the server you want.

Moving your service domain is never an easy prospect, especially if you have domains hosted under it, or have CP's using it's nameservers, etc. I'm sure you could do it, but not without much trouble.

Maybe you're better off using another domain for the MX services - or setting up a forward to a third level domain.

really?

I would think that would introduce a whole new set of issues, that the Windows machines couldn't handle. They tend to be touchy as it is.

I suppose the consistency would be good to have all the same windows server version.

ColdFusion MX should now be here on NT26 if any wants to try it out just signup and account on your reseller plan it should go on NT26. Please let me know if you have any issues with CF MX as this is our first install with it in H-Sphere but I think it will be ok..

MX on older servers

So are there plans to upgrade older Windows servers to 2003 with MX? Like jmbeach said, it's not always smooth to move a service domain, which I want to do to use MX. If so, it would just be easier to stay out and wait.

Also, is the MX version 6 or 6.1? The 6.1 update is important, since it touches on some critical issues.

What I meant is that the older Win2000 should not just be updated to Win2003. There are bound to be too many unsupported features that would wreck havoc on many of us.

I'd suggest leaving the 2000 servers alone, and perhaps someday phasing them out, but not anytime soon.

Yes it would be a nightmare if the 2K boxes were upgraded, CDONTS support does not exist on W2k3 so that would no doubt cause many customers grief just for starters.
