2003-08-24 Ticket system

We've had an issue with H-Sphere's ticket system tonight, as people sending in support requests may have noticed. There's a bug in psoft's support mail retrieval code that's making it choke on a piece of spam with malformed headers (which the server should not have accepted for delivery either but it did...). What we have right now is a pretty massive mailbox that's impossible to fix in its present location so it'll have to be transferred to a powerful unix machine for processing.

The mail server in question is an off-site server used for Vortech mail only and is not connected to the H-Sphere mail system, nor is it using the same software. Customer mail service was unaffected.

What all this means is that support messages sent in between an undetermined time before midnight EDT/0400 UTC, and about 0700 EDT/1100 UTC are in limbo right now and will not be delivered to support until we manage to get the bad message out of the mailbox. If you did not receive confirmation of receipt for your support request then yours is one of them.

The system appears to be operating normally and all new support requests should go through. If you resubmit a request, please make a note of it in the ticket so that we don't end up looking for problems that have already been fixed when we receive the older request.

Alex, I think it started about 10:20 your time, that is when my mail from the ticket system dropped off rapidly. Just so you know. yet, it does that at night sometimes, so I thought it was just a REALLY slow night.
