Mercury

DeskNow
http://www.desknow.com/

Both of them works so well. I have been using them for years.
Mercury is Freeware and Desknow has a free edition with some limitations.

Mercury does nos support multiple domain/clients. DeskNow maybe more suitable, it also has much more features.

Ive just come across mailenable http://www.mailenable.com And they look like what i want.
I especially like the fact it has an api to develop further features.

Has anyone had any experience with their software? or can recommend anything else?

Silverbug,

I run mailenable on my system at home. I find it to do what I need quite nicely. There is very little to setting it up and all you have to do is make sure your firewall allows data to get through the required ports.

Nice and simple. You just have to make sure your dns is set up correctly. Also a dedicated IP address comes in handy for a mail server

I am only using one domain with it at the moment, but I'm sure you could set it up for multiple.

I have been using it for close to a year now and have had no problems with it.

I'm not sure which version it is... I'm not at home at the moment, but I'll let you know when I get there.

I am using MailEnable version 1.704. It's a little old, but I've never really needed to update it for what I use it for

And... It would appear that I lied... I forgot I set up another domain in mailenable. Handles multiple domains well.

Personally for a simple mail server application, I think it's quite nice and fairly flexible.

Mailenable has been plagued with security issues lately, lost a bit of faith in that personally.

Would you mind sharing a little more about the security issues?

Perhaps a link to where these security issues are discussed.

Just go to their website and look at all the hotfixes released recently. One of them actually got released about 4 times in the space of a couple of days before they finally got it right (the IMAP one), most recent one was a POP3 one.

I've been using it for a while, no problems so far, does pretty much everthing you'd want in a mailserver and seems to be actively maintained by the developers.
