Assigning Wrong Nameservers
When i set up a new account the wrong nameservers are being assigned. One is the same as the service account but the other is incorrect. They should be(same as service account):
ns.mbaag.com -> ns1.mbaag.com -> 65.57.231.120 but instead the following are being assigned ns2.hsphere.cc -> 216.157.129.251 ns1.mbaag.com -> 65.57.231.120 I don't have time to change the nameservers on the registrar since this an emergency relief/rescue site pertaining to hurricane Isabell. Is there away I can fix this fast? |

I had the exact same problem - I posted a few days ago. The site that I put up seems to be working on the single DNS at the moment so I haven't had time to submit a ticket or look any more closely into it yet.
The thread was: http://www.matrixwebhosting.net/foru...&threadid=5761 - landiserve tried to help me out with that, but I think I was missing something (you might understand it). There appears to be a new DNS Server which might have something to do with it (if you read the above thread you'll see what I did to have the ns2.hsphere.cc change to my own domain). |

Even More Baffled
I went to the service account-->E. Manager-->server aliases and resubmitted the form there. I didn't change anything on the form and it added a new name server ns2.mbaag.com ->. It also changed the one on the new account in question from:
ns2.hsphere.cc -> To ns2.mbaag.com The problem is the name servers with my registrar don't point to ns2.mbaag.com because I've always used just ns. and ns1. Apparent my site won't come up just using ns1.mbaag.com which is one of my valid name servers. I have since changed them at my registerar to point to what hs-spere says they are but the disaster relief site won't be up on time as we had hoped. |

ixie, you need to register your nameservers before they will work, just like you did with the first two, register the NEW nameserver at your registrar.

Name servers
Getting back to my original concern, does h-spere assign name servers that are not in the reseller service account when a new account is created? Often in the past, I have registered a domain with my registrar and added the custom name servers at the same time, before I create the actual hosting account at Matrix. But if I can't rely on the name servers for the new account to be created being those in the reseller service account then I have to create the account and see what name servers h-spere comes up with and then go register the new name servers if it did indeed come up with a new one that did not exist on my service account.
It's confusing to me because h-sphere has never assigned a name server on it's own before(at least for me). It has always used the ones I had set up in my service account. |

I would love to go to the above thread but the bulletin board says I don't have permission to view it. I am logged in too. Do you know how I can fix that also? |

1st, seems that thread has been deleted or moved to a non public area, as I can not see it either.
and yes, hsphere always assigns servert aht hsphere wants to assign, it does NOT depend on you submitting your aliases, itjust wont work right if you don't continually update your server aliases. You have 0% control over which server DNS or websites are assigned too, mail you have some control, because typically only one at a time is on and available for signups. If you don't submit aliases, it will lie to the customer in the welcome email and tell them server.hsphere.cc is the server name to use. |

0%? Well, that clears that up. Thanks for the help. Maybe you could help me on this one. With my registrar I have no way to register a name server. I had to call them to do it and they assigned all my nameservers the same ip(just found that out today). First, can they fix this and two, would this cause the reponse on my websites to be slow? As you may have guessed, I'm not in the hosting business, just a business guy! |

ixie, contact me on IM, and let me know the registrar, I will find a way to register nameservers online via their site, or via email.

just about nameservers,
it is normal that the last new nameserver added 2/3 weeks ago has a different IP number? as follows: ns.hsphere.cc (DNS Server) 65.57.231.100 ns1.hsphere.cc (DNS Server) 65.57.231.120 ns2.hsphere.cc (DNS Server) 216.157.129.251 <-- THIS ONE?

Yes it's quite normal, all 3 of them have different IP numbers actually javier011
. It's good for us actually becuase many registrars would not allow dns servers on the same C Class range to be registered, now we have them on different A Classes which is great. |

A minimum of 2 yes.
Your user when they add a domain, will get an email telling them which two they should use. They can also look in their control panel under the Web Options for that domain and they are listed there. All domains added since last week when this new server was added will be on NS1 & NS2, no domains are being put on NS any longer. |

Woohoo! This addresses a "problem" I've been scratching my head about for the past few hours. 1. Any new domain I add only has two DNS servers assigned to it - I was wondering if I did something wrong to disable the third one! I understand now only ns1 and ns2 will be assigned. 2. GoDaddy's site has been refusing to register NS.hsphere.cc. Perhaps it's related to this issue. My support ticket response was that I must submit aliases for *all three* name servers, which I have. I've also been trying to register all three, and use all three in domain name server entries. But am I correct in assuming I don't need to register or use NS - just NS1 and NS2? Brangwyn, you should be getting paid for providing better support! ![]()
