Question New Vortech Customer

Hello everyone!

I've been lurking here for a while and thought I'd come out of the shadows.

I've been doing site design as a hobby for some time and have done some hosting for my church, homeowners assoc. etc. Now I want to get more serious.

I’m planning on pushing for mostly local business. Could those seasoned business people among you check out my site, stjoewebs.com and give me some advice? I am particularly interested in your opinions on the pricing structure I have in place.

I appreciate your candor, but please don’t flame me TOO bad.

Thanks,
Chuck

nice flash, i'd suggest doing a preloader so it has "something going on" from the first second of loading, maybe just lines and squares forming, as its a bit slow to show anything on dialup.
Can't really comment on prices, they're "personal" really, except to say i've seen cheaper and more expensive, and i'm not in the market being a reseller myself.
your site is really informative, good start-to-finish shop, i'd give it a nine if i was a "Miss World" judge, as long as it wanted to do something for world peace and looked good in a bikini.
You can code the flash to skip if someones already seen it, could be a good idea. A lot of people hate flash, i like it (in fact my sites entirely built in flash, so i'm probably biased).
Also theres a lot more to the web than just commerce, if you want the business market your image is probably fine, if you want to play a little then "lose the suits".
my seven cents.

Apart from the comments already made about ‘Flash’ by ramjet, (took ages to load for me – my home line isn’t ADSL enabled until later this month).
I thought the site was excellent – very informative, with easy navigation / ability to find ‘things’

I think you should consider lowering the ‘credit’ limit on your accounts, when using h-Shpere, ideally they should be slightly below your monthly charge.
Secondly, from experience, I suggest you also decrease the time allowed on your delinquent accounts – 60days+ is a long time to go without any income…. And then try to recover it.
Finally, I think you’ll find that search engines take a lot longer to place ‘free’ listings than you suggest – I always advice my clients not to expect anything for at least the first 8 weeks (it wasn’t that long ago when excite was only updated every couple of months…).

Other than that – good luck and welcome to the ‘clan’

Welcome aboard!

First what I don’t care for is the flash er well not the Flash but the time it takes for the intro to open, it took around 1 ½ minutes to open offer a way to skip. If I had a fast connection I'm sure I wouldn’t have noticed. I am in the stix of Minnesota DSL or cable at this point is not an option.

On the hosting page I don’t like having to scroll right when my resolution is set at 1024x768. The plan matrix is the key it is to wide, you could make the text above into it own table so it would fit.

I think the site could do without two graphic headers on every page. I maybe wrong let the other people offer their input.

Content is king on your site you did a great job of presenting everything and the over all look and feel is excellent. One more thing I didn’t like was I think you did a better job than I did on my site. Guess I will just have to put more effort into mine.

Nice job!

Smile Thanks

Thanks for your comments and suggestions.

I've removed the flash page.
