How to Install GPG?
Has anybody used GPG or PGP yet? I was wondering what path or what folder we create to install my keys. Has anyone had any problems yet?

There is a .gnupg folder in your root, the keyrings are there
You can call gpg from your shell and test some encryption there before trying from a script |

Thanks for your help,
I can't find a .gnupg in my existing system plan account's root (where I need it) Do I need to active the folder from my Control Panel, and if so where? If I just create a .gnupg in the root folder, will that work as well, or is there something special I have to do with it? |

I don't know what's you level of expertise, so I just want to check some things with you.
Did you try to watch from a shell? Did you try to list invisible files? The reason I don't have a clear answer to this is that I had gnupg installed before Vortech did it, so some folders/files were created by me. At an old host running RH, .gnupg was automatically properly configure with the keyrings inside, Cpanel had an option to make an new key or manage existing keys, great for newbies. I think Psoft just doesn't care about resellers' security, they have to rush out many different features that are usefull for hosts only (they pay the licenses). I say that because there was an icon that was created for gpg a long time ago and we have yet to see it land in our CP. Hsphere is great if you resell services, not control panels to end users. If someone wants to talk about that, let's create a new topic about Hpshere security, otherwise the answers here will be totally off topic ![]() |

I don't know shell. I use Dreamweaver and the "hidden file function" is turned on, yet I don't see anything related to gnugp. How did you get yours installed separately?
I can ask this question in a ticket, but I'm sure others would like to know this publicly. Though I don't know a whole lot about security issues (or lack thereof) it would be a good idea to have a thread for people to discuss what's good or not good about overall security and what holes they've found. |
