Who likes worldpay (uk) ?

After avoiding worldpay for almost ten years or so for their high prices, and recently for their lack of disclosure of prices, and using paypal and 2checkout for years, i paid £260 to apply for an account for one year at their UK site because they accept payment in a currency which i need but is not offered by other thirdparty processors.

I have a UK business account but company is registered elsewhere in the EU. Anyway, they email me and say they, due to the nature of your buisness, blah blah blah, they need a reserve or deposit to cover chargebacks and fraud equal to my first months sales, (which i said would be 800 on the application). Of course they won't be i was just exagerating.

Anyway, I wrote back saying thats insane, and i would only pay a £50 desposit and they may increase it as sales increase.

They reply saying their minimum is a £500 reserve. So i cancelled the application, and will be getting full refund.

I know other Uk resellers use Worldpay, so i would like to know how it went for you and what deposit you had to pay.

thanks,

/Johnny

I've used World Pay for over 5 years. Original deal was quite good i.e. rates etc.. but it took a bit of negotiating - Didn't know they existed 10 years ago.....

Anyway... I had a similar opening discussion to yours 'nature of the business' blah blah blah ... but they never asked me for a reserve or deposit, and I would never have paid one! Perhaps this is a 'new' idea of theirs?

What baffles me is that 'they' are offering secure servers, for 'secure' transactions - that 'they' verify.... but asking 'you' to take the risk if they get it wrong by providing a reserve?????

Yea you have a point about the verifying, so i am suspecting they asked for one because i am not in the UK, would like to know if other non uk resellers had the same issue..

Actually they also said that if i had a Internet Merchant Account with a UK bank, they don't need a reserve.... But its so hard to get one, and no one will tell you what they cost. One bank told me they plain out won't give me unless i have a deposit of ...£100,000 :-) (its true)
