Ranking sabotage?

Some complete stranger placed a terrbile review of my service on a review site, dropping the overall average and ranking.

Was just wondering how common this? I know people place fake positive ads for themselve but to go and sabotage someone else's? that's like mafia stuff

Never thought it would happen, but it did, he was also praising lunar pages, so not sure if it was them (too obvious).

If he's never been a customer, just place a rebuttal stating this. This should invalidate his statements and raise questions about his review of lunar pages.

I sorted it out already, emailed the site owner with proof, and he investigated the post, which had a false email and domain, and it was removed :-) but i am sure this happens all the time. anyway thats all for today.

How did you actually come across the review ?

I had a 'review me' campaign going, so i was visitng the site often and saw it. I had a similar problem once before where somone sent a pending e-check with paypal and i didn't activate the account. He went mad and posted that we stole his money! :angel:

If you know the competitor. Visit their site and view source. With people like that, it's better than even money that he's violating Googles TOS - e.g. padding keywords, invisible text, etc.

We can just add this to the list of all the ways people try to get by morally impaired. So many people tryin to steal from somebody else or just not ask questions about why something is so cheap or how they can get an edge. Amazing what people will or won't do for a buck.
