Don't forget to submit your instant alias tags!

Hello,
A lot of people are having issues with instant access aliases not working. This is because you need to submit your instant alias tags just like your server aliases. You should do both at the same time once a month to keep this from happening. To submit them, login to your reseller admin panel. Then, click E-Manager | DNS Manager | Edit | Edit (at the top) then click "Add records to all listed logical servers" at the bottom of that page and you're good to go.

Thanks Brian, we do this (well some of us do) but then once in a while we are told:

"Thats because it's not ready for you to add, we have not fully set that up."

Yea but then we send out an email when it is ready. People were asking before we sent the email out and trying to add them.

If HSphere worked properly you should never have to do this actually ... when you added the alias, the instant access should also be added automatically at the same time. Occasionally it doesn't .. in fact i suspect it those who try and add the aliases before it's ready that causes the instant alias not to add correctly when it does come time to really add the server.

.. so if you didn't add servers to HSphere before you were ready to actually turn the server on (assuming this is possible) you may actually be able to circumvent the problem for your resellers yourself

However, I did click the "add to all logical servers" link just then, and got this message at the end of the page when it refreshed:

WARNING: Logical servers missing IP for this tag
You should create a shared IP with the 2 tag on the following logical servers for the correct functioning of the whole system

Is this something I need to recitfy? If so, how exactly?

urchin is fine, you should not be able to add that one.

H-Sphere can add the instant access alias tags for us all but, we had to disable that when we tried to add unix17 because we had to many resellers + servers to do them all, it just timed out. I hope they fix that in there code here soon.

Might have been a good idea to clearly relay that info to resellers at the time and stress the fact you've turned the auto alias creation off

For the record, it didn't tell me there were any I.A. aliases outstanding to be added, and yet I have only ever used the "server alias" page to submit new aliases. So, as Brangwyn said, the I.A. aliases seem to get added without any special intervention, at least for me.

Yes it's in the emails, but people get complacent if they don't normally have to do it .. I'd say this is evidenced by the fact that you've now had to remind people to do it, wouldn't you
