Fantastico - Updated!
Fantastico has been updated to the latest version on Cpanel2 and Cpanel3. The themes on the machine were also audited to leave only the latest themes. The old themes were removed due to their lack of compatiblity with CPanel Version 8.
The current themes are: x, xmail, bluelagoon There was really only two removed themes, Xskin (replaced by x), and the other one had many names, but it was a Cpanel 6 theme. Cpanel will be updated as soon as the license information for Fantastico is updated. |

So is this why people logging into cpanel accounts that had X2 skins designated through the package settings in WHM got errors?
Any chance you can email us to let us know about this before you do it so we can edit our plans before we get users calling us with an error? |

First--
Thanks for the upgrade on Fantastico! It looks GREAT!! Good job Matt & gang!!! Now two quick questions-- bluelagoon doesn't look ANYTHING like it did before...any chance we'll be getting a style like it was with the navigation across the top of the page? I *love* the idea of being able to brand the cpanel--but I really don't like the styles of the cpanel we have to choose from right now...I'd give up branding the site for the ease of explaining things to my clients on the cpanel with the *old* bluelagoon interface. fantastico appears to be showing up in ALL of the cpanels now...was this the plan? I liked having the choice to give access to that area if I choose to...now it's showing up automatically. It doesn't show up in the x panel, but then neither does the cpanel news, which I use routinely. The feature tool doesn't have fantastico listed so you can't turn it off...any ideas on this? Thanks in advance! |

x and x2 were identical skins. I ran a migration wizard that was suppose to move them over... Guess it missed a couple.
The "Old" interfaces aren't compatible with the new versions of Cpanel. Fantastico shows up because its available to all. The skins autodetect it when its installed. Why would you not want to offer it? |

PS - Bluelagoon autoupdates, so it didn't really change. It did have a big change when it went from being non-x to x-based like it is now... but thats to make it compliant with the newer versions of cpanel.

Thanks for the info Matt--yeah it was the change from non-x to x that was the kicker...the first time I logged in I thought I had made a mistake as I didn't even recognize my cpanel. I have a feeling a few of my customers will be the same way.
I am actually a designer who hosts my client's websites on my service...the issue with fantastico is that when this was an optional resource I could list or not list for my clients (in their welcome email I would let them have it if I was not doing the site for them)--as it stands now if I go with the one cpanel interface that lets me do my cpanel updates, I will have to show fantastico for all of my clients--even the ones I am designing sites for. Feels like a conflict of interest to me to be working to make money installing and customizing programs and such and they have access to several of the ones I routinely work with through fantastico. The tool to turn off features allows us control over most other php, cgi programs to not allow access but having fantastico available seems to make a set of much more higher level programs available for the picking. I hope that makes sense. I can't be alone in the idea that I rather liked having control over the access to fantastico--which was a selling point to me. For clients who had staff on hand who were knowledgable enough to handle the installation and customization of these programs I would give them the option to have the programs. Just to be sure, what you are saying is that I either use cpanel x or bluelagoon to have my cpanel updates show up but will show fantastico, or I could use vertex which does NOT show fantastico but also doesn't support the tool customization feature nor sending cpanel updates... Thanks in advance! |

You have three choices:
1) We can disable Fantastico for your reseller account, so NONE of your clients can use it, or 2) You can set the client's skin to "xmail", which doesnt have the fantastico link (and also does not have most other features). 3) You can set their number of allowed databses to 0, then they wont be able to install anything. |

Controlling your header graphics in CPanel
Hello,
I am trying to control the header graphics in our CPanel. Presently we have Blue Lagoon and the header graphics are quite difficult to manage. The bitmaps seem to get re-used in a variety of tables as you hop from page to page within the endusers interface. Can you help give me some simple advice as to how best control the header appearance in cpanel. Ideally I'd like to just have a single rectangular image in the header rather than the diced-up table graphics I am presently attempting to manage. Any help would be appreciated, Dave Rees CreativeAuthority.com |
