IP migration: unix4

Migration of unix4 is in progress. About half the dedicated IPs may have a bit of downtime as the machine redoes its network configuration. The new shared IP is up.

Okay I just want to make sure I get this right:

1. I have a client on UNIX4 with a dedicated IP

2. This client hosts their own DNS and uses an A RECORD to point all web traffic to their dedicated IP

3. What is the timing now, in terms of when I will know the new IP address so that I can submit a DNS change?

So we ONLY have to be concerned if any of our sites have a DEDICATED IP, we don't have to worry about any sites which have a shared IP?

The Shared IP changed too... You should just double check as we will be removing the old Ips in a week.

jtaugher, you are 100% right. DNS should take care of it as long as psoft's scripts did everything they should have.. I think this is the 2nd system matt has done the IP change on so he is getting good at finding the issues before they become a problem for you guys.

I was just suggesting you ensure you're on the new IPs by looking it up for yourself... I looked up a few, but I can't look up 1500 domains to ensure they are all accurate

And don't assume all your customers use the vortech nameservers either you may have some that use alternate external nameservers, I know I've got at least a couple that do.

Only the ones on the list are changed, yes... but pretty much all of them were on the list... Not just dedicated, the Shared IP was changed too so they are all in the same netblocks.

Your talkin about what has been changed over so far, tho. This one I think is on unix7 so I guess will get info then. You've done unix thru unix4 right? Guess I will go see what status is. We have been talking about ip migration for so long I forgot what was done.

Okay, went back and looked up ip threads. We haven't gotten to web servers that may go from 65.* range to 216.* range, right. If/when that happens will get notified, right? I assume that will all happen after servers have been updated...at the end. I know my svc domain, which I believe is on unix2, is a 65.*
