client having a strange email issue...

one of my clients has about 25 email accounts and one of the accounts (and only one) is getting duplicate, triplicate, quadruplicate and sometimes moreduplicate messages when they recieve... does anyone have any thoughts on this...

just one address for this client -- not any others.

i have noticed that on one of my email addresses i am getting a lot of duplicates... i will see if a TT holds any answers...

Sounds strange, what kind of emails are they?

Could it be a form mail that has a loop in it?

this is probably a "no," but do they have any kind of forward/alias set up on that account to go back to itself. Again with the loop idea.

I've had similar actually, last week probably about 3 emails came through as double emails, absolutely identical all headers etc were the same, just dismissed it as a glitch apart from those couple last week It hasn't happened again anyway.

I was getting 2 of everything today, from 4 different domains all on Unix9.

Finally fixed it by rebooting MY computer. Outloook (not my choice)was semi-crashed in an odd way. I had 2 envelopes in the system tray, and got a "new mail" audio ding even after closing Outlook.

Next time that happens, check the running tasks. Outlook has some strange behavior - like not shutting down completely. Started with Outlook 2000 but hasn't really been fixed in subsequent releases. Last week, I had 8 instances running although it was shut down. You can kill the tasks one at a time, or reboot.

Another reason to use something non-Outlook.

Perhaps Communicator or Eudora (I hear this is Vixen's favorite)
