Anybody else notice that if you have a mail alias set up in H-Sphere then mail recieved via the aliased name is not Assassinated?
I do have SA set up on the mail account the messages end up in, but it appears that since they land in the mailbox as coming from the localhost the don't get checked! It's always something! |

yes, this was happening to me as well, so I read back through the SA post - http://www.matrixreseller.com/forum/...ead.php?t=6725
to learn that you have to change any aliases to forwards for it to work. My guess is that many users are going to notice this same issue, so if Vortech sends out a final email notice about the user-configureable SA setup, they may want to mention this little fact. Took me 3 days and many support emails to Matt to figure this out. I think I see a few more gray hairs ![]() |

Thanks jmbeach for sparing me the effort of finding this out for myself!
Yo Admin! Yes, please do post a summary SA instruction message when the dust settles. |

catchall
Does this hold true essentially for catchall addresses?
I know catchalls are generally not recommended, but in the case where they are used, are the undefined addresses not run through spam assassin because they are aliases? |

Catchall will run through SA ... I believe so at least
You can always test it... |

doesn't SA add headers to all incoming messages?
if "Add headers to non-spam messages" & "Allow multiple lines in headers" are both checked in configuration... are there messages that would get through without the added headers? better question yet: if spam assassin is set to DELETE mode instead of FILTER mode, the messages that make it through will not have the included sa headers? The tradeoff I guess My recommendation, get SAProxy if you can still find it for free. I think they've recently started charging for it, but it's basically a local SA client that you can set to catch additional messages. |
