StoreFront by LaGarde

I have a customer who uses this shopping cart product. Does Matrix support it? There is some additional sever setting that need to take place to support this product. I think a dll, ini, and mdac on the site.

www.storefront.net for more info including this link about the MDAC requirements. http://support.storefront.net/Security/msadc.htm

Any information if Matrix already supports this and/or if they would is greatly appreciated.

I have a customer that uses Storefront as well, and am in the process of installing it here. Support indicated things should be fine, as long as it's Storefront 5.0 (which uses ASP) and not 6.0, which uses .net. Luckily, my client has no need to "upgrade".

I'll post here again with results if you are interested.

So far so good.

Hey grok...

Very interested. If and when you get this running for your customer, I can move mine and be confident I can support thier needs.

So, I will stay tuned to your report.

Thanks!

StoreFront 5 will work after we install the stuff they need. StoreFront 6 will not as they want us to open to much stuff up to support it.. So we can support the asp version no issue but not there .net version.

Yep, there is a $25 fee per com to install the com's for StoreFront i think there is one or 2 of them, so make sure you pass the cost on to the customers.

Doh apparantly not supported then I guess ... can't think what they'd want opened up though ? Guess I should download and install for myself to see.

Regarding StoreFront

Hello everyone! I'm new here and have not signed up (YET). I like what I see so far, just being patient.

Regarding StoreFront. I've been developing a large store with this package for some times. (I'm an Air Force reservist and my attention has been elsewhere for the past few months.) I recommended the software based upon some of their claims. I am less than pleased and I have had to do some MAJOR coding to make it work the way I wanted. For the price, there are a number of other packages that would work just as well for much cheaper.

I use the 5.0AE with the merchant tools and the QuickBooks plug in. All told, it cost >$1200 and I have spent countless hours trying to get it to do the things I (the client) want. After I purchased it, I found out that there was one com (for encryption) and another MS dll that had to be activated. I am happy to learn from this thread that Matrix is willing to support the 5.0. (Happy enough to move the site, the VeriSign certificates and so forth away from Interland)

Caveat emptor on the 6.0+ package. The one main issue I can identify from their newsgroup is a registration verification feature that requires a "check" of your software periodically. From what I can tell, if their licensing server is down, so is your website. Unacceptable in my opinion.

In short, if I had it to do over again, I would chose another package.
David

I tried the Storefront Package about 2 years ago and was more than dissapointed myself. This year I purchased YourVirtualStore and have been more than impressed. Total cost to me was $295.00 (When you go looking again, I can get it to you directly for less than that) for that, I worked with Access and am currently running on SQL. Support is good and you get the complete source code. Only server requirements for the most part are things that is included in the Microsoft IIS environment. Administration is completely web based as well. I can edit content, parts, create bills, and much more from any web browser on any computer. That is what I call freedom!

So, moral of the story. My customer uses storefront and although I have not moved him yet I intend to. Hosting with Matrix is the best thing I have done in a while and I know you would not be disappointed.

If anyones just looking for a store only without the added CMS etc then I'd happily reccomend CandyPress store, runs something like $45-$50 so is pretty cheap when compared to some of the "big boys"

How long have you been with Matrix? My work is almost exclusively IIS/ASP/SQL/ACCESS --- they appear to be responsive. I know this is their server but would be extremely interested in any heads up before moving 20 something domains.

One other question... the email server software... what is it? (Please say iMail)

I have been here for 5 months now. Early on I had a couple of issues but they resovled them and I have not had any problems for a couple of months now. One thing I really like about Matrix is this forum. They are pretty open here and do listen to what we all say and use that to help make there service even better. I too am a IIS/ASP/SQL/ACCESS user and again all is great.

I currently have three personal domain and 5 or so customers here. I like the automated billing and the feature rich hosting that is provided.

Not sure what the email server software is other than I think it is part of hsphere but I do know that the web client it @mail.
