Deleting forwarded mail

I have some old email addresses that are spam fodder. Rather than deleting the addresses and letting the catchall account pick up the incoming mail, I set up a blackhole account to delete any incoming mail it receives.
I then set up forwards to the blackhole account for the old email addresses.

Mail sent directly to the blackhole is deleted. Mail forwarded to it however, is not deleted.

Is there something else that needs to be set up to delete the mail forwarded to the blackhole? Or, should I alias the old email addresses to it instead of forwarding them?

Are the email accts involved here or elsewhere? If the email acct is setup to delete the mail can't tell you why it isn't. Are you using the "discard incoming email option in hsphere?"

The email accounts are all in a domain hosted here. I set up the blackhoe account in hsphere to delete incomming mail - which it appears to do. It just doesn't delete mail forwarded to it from within the domein.

Haven't tried forwarding the accounts to a blackhole in another domain. Was wondering if there may be some @mail option for the blackhole account that also has to be set.

Ok, I screwed this up. The accounts I thought were forwarded, were aliased instead. After testing, these appear to be the rules if you select the "discard incoming email" option in hsphere:

Mail sent to the account is deleted
Mail from accounts forwarded to it is deleted.
Mail from accounts aliased to it is kept.

That makes sense since an alias is a different address. Glad you figured it out.
