No this is not about the space between my ears
....My question is... if I give a user 100mb of web storage and 100mb of MSSQL storage and lets just say they use 100mb of both to the max... would that then count as 200mb total? Is there a way to limit a database to what the actual account was setup as? So if they have 100mb account and use 50mb in web storage they could use 50mb in database but no more than that? Mark |

If the plan is 100Mb of summary usage allocated, then they won't be able to use 100Mb Web storage and 100Mb MSSQL storage.
The summary limit you set is the maximum amount of space allowed to be used and is the total of web space + mail space + database space |

So what do I put in for: MySQL database quota then? Do I put 100mb in?

according to the hsphere documentation for changing a current plan to summary based disk usage, with summary disk usage we still have to but in the individual quotas because hsphere still needs them to function even though they are not used in summary disk usage. The wording sounded like they were set as a required field and even though they are not needed hsphere is still needs the fields completed to avoid errors

If you are using Summary Disk Usage, then the "Quotas" you fill out are just defaults for when that resource is created. IE, If you setup a plan with 100MB Summary Disk Usage, 85MB Disk Quota, 15MB DB Quota, 10MB Mail Quota, then the plan will have 85MB FTP space available before it says its full. If they create a dtabase, the database will have a15MB quota by default. Of course, as long as your not using 100MB total, they can change the quotas to meet their needs. I normally set my disk quota's equal to my disk usage so my customers dont have to worry about micromanaging their space.
If I wanted to limit the total amount of a database, I would use the "Resources" Icon under the "Advanced" column in your plan list (Admin Account) and set a Maximum value for the Database Quota... Basically, the user can't set the DB's quota higher than that amount. Not sure why you would want to restrict that though, considering Summary Disk Usage is so that you can offer the customer the power to control his own disk space. (Max Limit the Summary Disk Usage if anything). If your NOT using Summary Disk Usage for YOUR plans (remember, we still base your stats on actual usage). Then lets say you give a 100MB Web site quota, and a 50MB database quota. If they only use 30MB of the Disk and 20MB of the database, then only 50MB is counted for your usage. If you want to limit the database size to 50MB as you asked, then you would again use the "Resources" icon under the "Advanced" column to set a maximum value. There are a LOT of things you can do with those resources. I even figured out how tune some apache options by default using Custom Values. I normally just set Max values though ![]() |

Psoft recommends normally setting them the same as the allocated summary disk, so I suspect they do actually still have a use, if you want to restrict DB to 50 then put in 50 and give it a test and let us know.
