Is anyone using Nagios host and service monitor? I was thinking this may be a good solution for a server status monitoring system.

Nah, I prefer just to use Vortech's ipMonitor personally. You can "tart" it up to suit yourself with a bit of effort

Altho that program looks interesting it does seem easier to just extract vortech's existing info. There was some info on the board about this w/ asp anyway. Not sure about other languages. Would be good for someone to post. Somereseller I think works w/ php and I believe gadgetgal works w/ javascript. Maybe they have scripted somethings they would be willing to share. I don't care for asp or too much for vbscript.

The reason I asked is, I like the set up and the features, but I think is easier to use rushlands status2.

Was working yesterday fine, lucky its only in Beta testing right now eh

That particular error usually means somethings screwy on the server with XMLHTTP, often it's the server doesnt allow outbound requests, I hope no-ones changed anything in the last day or so to cause that, it would be a real PITA.

Using XML4 The error changes. Clearly the server can not resolve addresses or access the outside world so either somethings changed in the last 24 hours, or somethings broken in the last 24 hours

Ok I'm talking to myself here, but yup, it's a DNS issue, substituted the full IP Address for status.vortechhosting.com in my script and bingo it's working again !!

update: Yup, was DNS related, apparantly NT6 for some reason had an incorrect/invalid primary DNS address loaded.

appears to work well. If "someone" wants to make the code available I can see if I can convert to php. I have been playing lately so would be willing to give it a go and share.It's a project I been meaning to do anyway. I like cross platform if possible.
