Alright - after finding 8,000+ references to server.objects in my local files, I've given up sorting through the list...
Here's the components I know are in use. Of course all the MS stuff - MSWC, XMLHTTP, CDO, CDONTS, etc - and then... - Persits.MailSender (ASPMAIL) - SMTPsvg.Mailer (ASPEMAIL) - JMail.SMTPMail - Persits.Jpeg - Persits.Upload.1 - Persits.MailSender - AspImage.Image Maybe my clients are using others, maybe not... I'd just hope at least any old components could just stay (why *must* they be upgraded?), and I also think it's screwy that you'd leave it up to us to figure out what's in use and/or not be able to check from your end and/or would even think about turning something off, given your number of users (and the corresponding support-related headaches I'm sure they give you whenever something goes bye-bye) As for ColdFusion... I stopped using in the 90's... too many hallucinations ![]() |

Just a quick question-Is it neccessary to upgrade these,or is it a matter of having to pay to keep what you have. Newer is not always better.

I will be using ASPEncrypt and would like to have ASPLib from serverobjects installed for us if possible. I'll need it for customer's who want security with their web apps.

It's not COM, it's ISAPI, but I've mentioned ISAPIRewrite before (http://www.isapirewrite.com/). I'd love this -- brings all the functionality of mod_rewrite on Apache to IIS hosting.
Might be worth a look, anyway. I use ASPHttp by the way, so keeping that would be nice. |

I have tried port 80's software before it made a mess of things..
Not going to try that one again..We are not looking to load down the servers with "junk" ( I don't mean that in a bad way ) remember its a shared servers. So I will have to be kind of tight on the new things to be to installed. I will look over every thing posted here tomorrow and see what we can do for new things.. Thanks for the input.. ![]()

Many thanks for the opportunity to provide input on this!
For myself, these are the most important: 1. AspMail is ok, but I prefer Dimac's JMail 2. AspPOP3 (or JMail )3. AspJpeg / AspImage 4. Dundas Chart 5. AspEncrypt is handy for easy encryption of passwords in databases etc. but not essential. Don't use an upload component, prefer using ASP code. Do you have the PDF Filter installed for Index Server? It's free from Adobe. Cheers!

We can leave them as they are we are just upgrading some of them and wanted to take this time to ether clean up or maybe add a few "new" nice com's if we can..
Plus I was not sure if any one was even useing a lot of the ones we have installed. So it was more less to check to be sure.. I think we will stick with what we have and I may pick a few new com's if they look ok as well..

Not sure if anybody would agree...but I find the possibility of having something deleted...a dodgy bet...cause even if we all participate here...who knows what our clients use?
We would have to involve them in making a serious participation in terms of what they're using....and honestly...some clients amazingly regard their host (us...resellers...), as an enemy ......and are simply not interested in developing a sense of partnership in which we could rely on their zealous answer.Well, cutting a long story short: we dont use any of that, but don't know about our clients. Thanks for calling us into the debate. |

Hey thats what you guys are here for.. With out you we would not be here.. So just wanted to make sure before we did any thing..I see the good points in taken any thing away.. I understand fully..So I will upgrade just the ones that need it. I will also add a I think that may be for everyone.. The ones you "really" want we can do as custom com's..

I don't use anything of this components right now but i will. I'm looking for a component that resizes images and automatically compress them. Also an uploader component would be very useful.
Can anyone here help me to see if some jpeg component exist and how i can use it in my asp prog's? I want: uploading jpeg's (uncompressed) via web browser, compressing them and showing them in an image gallery (showing as thumbnail and on clicking the real size in a new window) And if this all would be automated that will save me a LOT of time! So any help would be very very much appreciated! Thanks and vortech = great service!!! |

Theres already several objects you could use for that bartverhelst, ASPJpeg, ASPUpload etc.
Download and run the following script on a vortech server to see everything installed already. http://www.bier-voting.de/objcheck/query.zip |

First of all thanks admin for opening this post.
Beside the ones mentioned in Admin's first post, I also agree for a PDF component (no preferences, used in the past AspPDF) and for a Chart one (Dundas Chart ASP is good). Besides, could be a good thing evaluating Fileman from IISworks. It can be a solution for FTP subaccounts under WIN servers that so many are asking for.

Is there an ongoing list of the installed components available?
