Im on mail1 but I got errors when checking my mails. Also, my forum on unix2 is getting critical error connecting to the database.

Recylcing IIS shouldnt cause Pings to raise an alert though, all monitors on NT24 were down which would indicate a reboot rather than something like iisrecylcer ... a rather long reboot at that too I'm afraid.

email is back up .... (pls stay that way) ... but we LOST hell lota of mails ... are those in the queue somewhere and gonna be recovered?

There's stuff backed up right now, it should clear pretty fast as soon as we have everything in order again. We're looking at one more reboot which will hopefully see the machine and all services come up unaided.

Looks like it's not actually the configuration but a bug in a recent kernel security patch that we applied today and messed with the system's routing in wholly unforeseen ways. Almost Microsoftesque.

Seems to be getting through it, I just got mail that was 8 hours old. Time to change my MX records I guess and start using my own mailserver.

Thanks for your spelling observation Vixen (i did see the smiley) but after at least 10 hours with no email its hard to "smile" about this email problem.

This is an old thread, but I just want to check b4 submitting a ticket on my problem regarding both mail and mail1 servers. Emails fail to send using theses servers. they were working fine before. Checking outlook settings, the test function signals an error when trying to send smtp test message. the earlier checks pass with Outlook seeing the servers. No settings have been changed.

Could someone clarify?

naw, I just checked my local isp email account also seems to go through the same thing. Maybe the firewall or something.
