FTP Transmission Speeds

Over the weekend, I was uploading several folders full of information to one of my sites and experienced extremely slow FTP speeds - between 3kb/s and 5 kb/s. I submitted a trouble ticket and we came to the conclusion that it was likely an issue with RoadRunner because the traceroute was struggling finding servers.

So, I checked around with a few other RoadRunner users and they were also having similar problems with upload speeds.

The problem seems to be gradual. I'll get a good upload speed at first, but it will begin to slow down to that 3-5kb/s range and even experience brief timeouts before re-starting. If I do a file or two at a time, no problem. If I go with folders, big problem.

I spoke with RoadRunner and they could not verify any problems. I ran several speed tests including DSLReports.com and got fast upload times there, but that was only testing a few seconds and not a prolonged period of time.

Any suggestions? Anyone else suffering a similar problem???

Not sure what that could be, we switched back over to the main router last night, we also changed TCP time out on the firewall. But that should not of slowed FTP down. We are also bring in some new lines and will be upgrading the routers to 256MB of ram but I don't think this issue has any thing to do on our side unless its just a single server issue. I was downloading and uploading on my RR last night and was going very very fast over 200kb
