Moving domain to different account under same reseller

I have spent some signficant time searching the forum with no clear process on moving a domain to a different account.

My situation is a couple of domains who only needed email service. They were all setup under a single user account.

Now some of the domains are requesting web hosting service and I want to move them to their own account. Is there any way to do this other than deleting the old domain and re-adding everything manually under the new account?

No, I think you're stuck deleting the account and creating their own again.

Propagation should be within an hour or so (from my experience), and unless if they have a ton of configuration to do, it shouldn't take you long.

You're best letting them know they'll have a little downtime, and just try to do it when it affects them the least.

The only real pain is the mail accounts a bunch of users each with aliases and a couple of mailing lists.

Oh well.... live and learn

maybe if you submit a trouble ticket, Matrix support may have a suggestion, like some kind of config file that can be moved to maintain all that stuff.

I have no idea if this is even remotely possible, but it's worth looking into, especially if you have a bunch of mail lists and addresses to look after.

Remember too that if you delete the account, I think you'll also lose any mail they have saved on the mail server. Something else to keep in mind.

we can change the plan to another reseller far easier than to another account, in fact I don't know any way but deleting and re-adding, however we can move between resellers fine.

Actually heres what I did recently for a similar type of problem you might be able to adapt it for yourself too.

I had a user on an email only account which can't be upgraded to any other type of plan (go figure a stroke of psoft genius there). Instead I added a second account to the customers account (add new account from the control panel) and added a hosting enabled plan. Got them to clear out their mailboxes, deleted the domain from the email plan and readded it to the new hosting plan, then just deleted their original email plan from my reseller panel.

Only downside is the mailboxes being blitzzed but in this case the customer didn't mind setting them up again and everything worked out pretty well in the end.

Yep, I had a similar problem, and to delete and recreate each and every email account of a customer is a real pain.

People shouldnt be storing email on the server anyway else they risking having it deleted on them there too though, better to control whats deleted and when by making the move manually, download mail from all accounts, make the change, create the mailboxes again, takes about 5 minutes and good to go again with the customer I moved.

I wasnt taking it the MAIL per se, but the accounts, aliases, and forwards they had set up that would be gone.

It wasn't too bad. I ended up doing it myself to save the friction. I doublechecked all email boxes were empty and they didn't even notice.
