Selecting Credit Card Merchant

We would like to start accepting credit cards. Does anyone have any suggestions or experiences they would like to share??

Thanks,
Brian

Never heard of them. I personally use Authorize.Net as my gateway (so does Vortech, Inc). As far as my processor, I go directly through NOVA.

I am currently only using PayPal, but have looked at using PayQuake. I have also heard that Charge.com is good. I will follow this thread and search for the others to get more insight from other users.

Vortech uses Heartland Payment Services who I have to say is EXCELLENT to work with when it comes to bogus charge backs and such. We have one other merchant account but I can not remember the name of them to save my life. LoL

You mentioned that payquake.com uses Authorize.net for it’s gateway. So with PQ, do you need to open an account with a gateway merchant or is it included with PQ?

We have been with a processor for the past 6 years. We were looking at Echo Inc, because they had a virtual terminal included as part of the package at reasonable rates.

For a month and a half, Echo kept coming back asking for more information, changed requirements, required us to accept unconditional returns even on opened software, dictated what a reasonable return restocking fee was, and even questioned the validity of my signature.

They made the process unnecessarily difficult, so we decided to stay with our current provider.

Follow up on my prior reply: I received a phone call from the CEO of Echo yesterday, apologizing for the treatment we received. He said that he was appalled by the "nit-picking" that went on, and to give him a month to make some changes.

I guess complaint letters do bring some kind of action.

Any chance of Vortech adding NOVA's payment gateway, viaKLIX, to H-Sphere? http://www.viaklix.com

I have a NOVA merchant account as well, and NOVA is about the biggest in the U.S. I am loath to pay new merchant account "application" fees just to get a set-up that matches the H-Sphere list. Many lesser gateways are included, and even osCommerce is viaKLIX compatable.

You could also check out this forum thread, http://forum.vortechhosting.com/showthread.php?t=7518, for information on e-onlinedata.com.

If I remember correctly, I spoke with a customer a while back who said that PayQuake.com only allows you to accept CC payments from US customers...so you might want to check into that if you will be accepting CC payments from customers outside of the US.
