receiving email is better than having spam blocked... functionality over design

when checking my adelphia email it ALWAYS connects. ALWAYS. i never got a timeout ever from them. it seems like you're servers are overloaded or something. take care of it...

Yea, they were overloaded from SPAM and that is why we blocked it.

There is no doubt that the spam does not help this situation, but spam is a 24x7 onslaught. I have been receiveing the password prompts for many months now and I have had ample opportunity to track the problem. Here is what I have found:

The password prompts begin around 8:45 AM and stop in the early evening around 5:00 ~ 6:00 PM EST. This ONLY happens during U.S. business hours from Monday - Friday. It does not happen at night or on the weekends.

The prompts are usually worse in the morning and taper off as the afternoon progresses but this behavior leads me to one conclusion: these are U.S. business days and business hours. The servers are recieving an enourmous amount of traffic at these times and they are overloaded. What else could it be?

Of course these are computers and one can never tell. One thing is for certain, computers do not arbitrarily manifest errors Monday through Friday from 9-5. We most definitely need the spam blocking in place, but we also need servers that will handle the daily load.

Put me in the "I'll take spam over not getting emails" category although, IMO, it shouldn't be either or. I can live with deleting spam email. I cannot (or should I say my clients cannot) live with having email problems.

If the spam blocker worked well, I'd say do both. But, it appears it is potentially blocking email that isn't spam AND creating problems for the mail server. Not a good way to fix the problem.

And now mysql doesn't even respond (it's on the same server as mail.)

Question

Mediocre sex or no sex at all - which would you take?

It's the same with the email

Please just get it to the point where it works and then worry about making it better by removing the SPAM.

Your efforts are appreciated but my inbox and voicemail is starting to fill up with more customer complaints than SPAM.

IT'S 5PM, DO YOU KNOW WHERE YOUR EMAILS ARE?

Some of my accounts aren't responding, I'll go outside see if there are some smoke messages...might be more reliable these days...

Anyway, we get the same problems EVERY day. This has to stop!

That end sentence tells you why you are blocked. "spam support - auto-forwarding spam complaints directly to their spamming customers"

If you or someone you are associated with are a spammer, you will be blocked. Areka, that appears to be from the first list we were using, and you were listed on that block list. We have switched to a new list since that email was sent.

I am getting the MS pop-up message box again asking me for username and password .... it is randomly and not every time MS Outlook check for mail but I sometimes have to click several times before it can make the connection to the mail server.
It started around 10:30 CST
